5.2.734250 (In Progress)

Release date:

11 / 1 / 2025

Highlights: Real-time input status, smarter DNS for reliability, customizable DAC filter, and smoother streaming across services.

What's New:
  1. Input status at a glance: The app now shows when Line In and HDMI ARC are physically connected.
  2. Smart DNS reliability: Validates the DNS server provided by your router for more dependable service access.
  3. DAC filter selection: Choose your preferred DAC filter type to tailor the sound.
  4. Alarms: Custom labels and up to 32 alarms.
  5. Logitech Media Server (LMS): Disabled by default; enable in Device Settings in the WiiM Home app.
  6. USB Media Library: Create, delete, and manage playlists (add/remove tracks) on USB storage.
  7. TuneIn: Faster start when playing Apple Music stations.
Bug Fixes:
  1. Playback: Corrected playback state display in certain cases.
  2. TuneIn: Now consistently selects the highest available stream quality.
  3. Sub Output: Fixed missing bass when the wireless WiiM Sub Pro was disconnected.
  4. Qobuz Connect: Resolved a blocking issue that prevented playback.
  5. Spotify: Fixed failures to play from the Spotify app’s Recommended lists and Recently Played; also fixed presets that would not start playback.
  6. Alarms: Corrected behavior in Daylight Saving Time zones.
  7. Multi-room: After ungrouping, metadata no longer syncs to previously grouped (child) speakers.
  8. Gapless Player: Fixed a near track end race condition that could trigger overlapping/simultaneous playback.
  9. Local Files: Fixed an issue where the app progress bar reached the end before playback finished.
  10. Amazon Music: Smoother seeking and playback—fixed occasional skips after seeking, progress bar desync, repeated playback of the same track after seeking, and unexpected stops when using Amazon Music Cast.

Sounds interesting. I wonder how much storage space is available for databases, artwork etc. I suppose more care has to be taken when pulling the plug of LMS is enabled. Time will tell how well it works compared to a standalone server.

I think this is just referring to the squeezelite client, I’d be very surprised if it meant Lyrion as a server.

Squeezelite is already included isn't it?
Yeah. Same change in the recent Ultra firmware update. When squeezelite was introduced, you couldn’t disable it. Then they introduced a settings page for it where there was a toggle to turn it off/on, which iirc defaulted to on. I merely read this latest change to mean it’s now defaulted to off.

It’s strangely tucked way alongside Alexa and google cast in the device settings. Given that Roon gets an entry under manage services in the browse page, that would be a more logical place for squeezelite to reside too imho.

Yes, I think you are correct. After last month’s Ultra update, I had to turn the toggle back to on, where previously it had remained in the on position.

DAC Filter Type: Allow to choose your preferred DAC Filter Type.
Hooray!

Not that I really think I can tell the difference, but glad to see it's finally come to the amp ultra like it took a little while to come to the ultra.

So they mean Squeezelite then. They must know the difference. Unbelievably sloppy 🤷‍♂️. In that case it hardly seems worth mentioning under "What's new".

@WiiM Team If you mean Squeezelite say Squeezelite, not LMS. What difference does it make to the user experience if Squeezelite is enabled by default or not? If the user doesn't have LMS they won't care and if they do have LMS the first thing they will enable it

If Wiim included LMS as a server, technical support would be obliged to deal with users' problems. It could turn into a support nightmare 😱😁.
It must be a reference to squeezelite, not the server.

And calling it “Logitech” makes this sloppiness even worse. Come on @WiiM Team surely you know better than this. I understand the Lyrion based community of users is a small subset of your install base, but last I checked there was over 1,600 WiiM devices reported as connected to a Lyrion Server in the public Analytics.

They still haven't changed the icon used when playing to Squeezelite. It is still the old Logitech icon.

Old buggers like me don‘t even realize this. In fact I‘d probably be irritated if the new logo was displayed.
I have a bookmark on my material skin page in my browser using the new logo and I sometimes find myself not knowing what this is at first glance as I usually use iPeng.
