Wiim app working on android Tv

For anyone interested to know the Wiim home app can be added and used on android tv/Nvidia shield. I managed to get it working and all the functions work fine. The app is a bit clunky with the remote but a mouse would help. If all your interested in is displaying album art it’s great.

What did you have to do to “get it working”?

you have to download the WiiM home apk app from a third party App Store. I got it from the Aurora store. Once it is installed on your device (nvidia shield) you’ll need to use a remote control app to navigate past the couple of pages to find your WiiM device.
I use the nvidia shield Tv remote app for this.

Thanks. I think I tried the apk on my fire tv stick a while ago but couldn’t get past the device discovery or the welcome screens. Might be worth giving it another try

I got stuck on the welcome screen for ages until I realised you have use a remote app for your device. In my case nvidia shield. The remote app has to have a swipe function.

I just downloaded the Aroua store App Store and searched on there for WiiM home. It’s the first app that comes up. Version 3.1.6.
Installed that and bingo. As I said the only other thing you need to do is have a remote app with swipe function.

That's very interesting indeed. Thank you for sharing. Do you think it would be possible to do this on a Chromecast with Google TV dongle? Also, can you explain what you mean by a remote app with swipe function please?

Yes it should definitely work with any device running android tv. You are able to download remote control app apps for your android tv device. Most of the remote control apps will have the option the toggle between swipe pad, Dpad and trackpad.

The first thing you need to do is Download an app called Downloader from the playstore. Once you have this There’s loads of videos on YouTube that show how to do this.

Oh. This all seems a little beyond me unfortunately. I might wait and see if WiiM release a compatible app. Thanks so much for showing what the app looks like on a TV though. Embarrassingly I'm a little too old to understand how a lot of this stuff works. I can handle searching the Play Store and installing apps on the dongle, but anything beyond that is way over my head.

You need to download this app. It will allow you to set any app to landscape.

Can we have an Android TV and Google TV app to display now playing information? I have sideloaded Wiim Home apk to Google TV but it will not display the app correctly

I see this as the best option to connect a display to the Wiim streamers to have "now playing" and album art.

I can get and use an Android 10" tablet running Wiim Home, but it will look better on a bigger screen, and also I already have a TV.
