Roon WiiM Pro is now Roon Ready

So, WiiM pro to my amp via output cables. Then WiiM Pro to DAC via SPDIF or just WiiM Pro output via cables to amp then DAC to laptop and enable the WiiM Pro on my Laptop?
if you are using Roon on a laptop as core, and you want to play out to Wiim as an endpoint, then its Wiim>(via Spdif)DAC>amp. or WIIM>amp (via analog out

Got it all figured out. Thank you so much. I’m using my laptop as the core.

@Brantome
With you that the relevance from Roon for the giant two A likely is not important yet.
Problem from my perspective is Apple and Amazon services are less than great. Airplay? No thanks. Amazon app? Double no thanks.
if Amazon ever (greatly) improved their app I’d be motivated to leave Qobuz behind.

What do you get on roon? Just organize your music and tells you about the artist while computer is running 24/7?

I don’t care about the cost or about having a computer run 24/7. Neither of these impact me.
I have over 5000 albums/CDs - ROON does an excellent job managing them better then previous software tools.
I have Devialet speakers distributed about the house and ROON manages playback flawlessly.
I like getting the lyrics. I like the reviews. I like ease I can pick which version I want to play.
But most importantly - and this is key 😂 - I am lazy and just want something that works.
I absolutely do not believe this is the right solution for others. I have no illusions on that score. Your mileage will vary.

Everyone is entitled on their opinion. What’s your liking may not be liking by the others. If you asked me personally, I listened to music 1 hour or 2 a day and after that I just go on with my business. I listened to repetitive music that I listen everyday so software for organizing, information about the artist is something not important to me even it’s free. I just type the artist on search then pick the song and hit play nothing else is matter. What matters is sound quality which I rather spend on higher quality components. Again, that just me. Not all people are same.

Am I correct in that it uses Airplay to stream or can that be bypassed?
no airplay was available before the roon RAAT integration, RAAT is Roon's own streaming tech, has higher quality potential than airplay, so now you can use that instead of airplay (if you have the new firmware that enables Roon).

Roon does support playing to AirPlay devices - https://roon.app/en/compatibility/audio - scroll down and you will find the non Roon Ready devices which includes AirPlay, Chromecast, Sonos etc
I don't believe anyone said Roon does not support airplay, OP asked if he can bypass airplay (ie to get the better quality I assume). We are able to use Wiim with Roon via airplay from the launch of Wiim pro, now we can use it as a Roon ready (ie RAAT) device instead of via Airplay (which was limited in quality of the signal).

Semantics. He actually said
"Am I correct in that it uses Airplay to stream or can that be bypassed?"
So the answer should be
No, Roon Ready (RAAT) does not use AirPlay (but it is available, although RAAT is far superior).

I misinterpreted one of the answers as saying Airplay wasn't available. Apologies.

bitperfect and Roon Ready 🤤😉
