Didn't bring up about an "audiophile Ethernet switch." You did. 🤣
Just sharing a bit of experience with folks who may want to research more and learn for themselves.
If they want to try it in their system, it can be tried and tested with little time and money.

Made my plan with the WiiM Pro and it's worked out great!
Thanks for an incredible streamer Wiim Team!

"audiophile Ethernet switch" was taken directly from the link content you've provided.

Hi Witterings, the theory has merit but the time it takes to shorten the batteries' life may not be significant. Unsure with this unit but funny just earlier, I had removed the power to run on the battery only. As anticipated with this battery device, no difference in the audio's quality of sound output. Expect I'll unplug it on occasion overnight when not in use. I've previously used its 12v power outlet for DAC and router. Now it's dedicated to the USB power out for the WiiM Pro.

Have you compared the sound quality to just using a normal 2 amp USB wall plug?

No, not high on the agenda. My system is very sensitive and changes will have an appreciable impact.
Folks can try it in their system as it's not a big cost. The impact on my system may be greater than others so YMMV.

An additional observation in the streamer market. While the quad core is excellent in the design effort built around the Wiim Pro, the software can not be overstated as being a major winner in tandem.

Tested both Qobuz and Amazon Music via the app. Works great. Slight preference to run from a laptop so Audirvana 2.2 is first choice but there's no downside and the software appears far superior to Volumio. IFI Zen is going to feel the pain as will the Node, among pricier others.

Yes, there are many people discussing their setups including any ethernet switch they have but that isn't me there, nor here.
I won't be spamming this page on unrelated hardware nor testing in my setup. It's up to others to decide if they pursue the info or not.

Every proud owner of "sensitive audio systems" with linear PSUs and weird "sound improving tools" I've seen so far was going to say that WiiM Mini sounds horrible and Node sounds much better. At least there is a difference here.

I guess the two things I'm curious about is if there are audible differences between using wifi vs. ethernet, and using the supplied 5v power supply with a 5v linear power supply. If anyone who received their units get around to playing around with some of that stuff, I'd appreciate your thoughts!

Though frankly, I'd really appreciate it more if Amazon would ship me my WiiM Pro!

I hope this “audiophools” chat doesn’t descend into the often nasty discourse on the U.K. Facebook group of that name, which seems to have a preponderance of people you’d avoid in real life…

Didn't know there was one ... gotta go find that group now :ROFLMAO:

My review is now up and posted on Amazon. Having the weekend to spend time with the WiiM Pro, I can't think of another product anywhere near this price I've enjoyed the results in decades of home audio. A big congrats to the Wiim team and to its continued success!

There's apparently stock available for those who wish to give the Wiim Pro a whirl in their system too.

I'm guessing the run, don't walk comment is your review, isn't that nicking what someone else said about the miny?

I am not Darko and had no idea he had stolen my future review comment for the mini. Heinous!

On a serious note, the Wiim Pro optical out is very good and may similarly be near the equivalent on the mini.
If I had known about the Mini back then, may have to tried it. But I only learned about the mini when the early reviews online started discussing the upcoming WiiM Pro. At that point, I decided to get the pro as I wanted to use ethernet and also coax out.
