Using an external power supply with the WiiM Pro. Not interested in any "Made in Russia" product either.

My WiiM Pro with a 5v external power supply sounds great.

Not even speaking about encouraging : This should void the warranty straight away.

Wow, this would be a brave/questionable mod to even think about let alone try. As far as I understand the usb c power connector on the pro is part of the main streamer board with no power jumpers I have seen in photos. The two big heat sinks on this thing are right up against the button board which could cause an interesting effect on that board. I don't see any connectors on this power board to plumb it into anything. I suppose it fills the available space up and would make it a bit heavier ? Hold on .....is it April 1st? Got to be a scam .

It seems the PSU kit is to be installed only by the PSU kit developers at their site, so it is not a choice at all.

I'm thinking of trying a big 6V rechargeable battery as a Wiim Pro+ PCU combined with a supercapacitor, then evaluating the Wiim sound quality change (if any that I might discover).

Ok, that kinda makes sense of how its all connected up if its installed by them. I still would be worried about those heat sinks on what I now assume to be a regulator so near the button board but up to whomever wants to take a punt I suppose.....

Their PSU board design looks quite professional, the idea to use a classic power transformer is good, the decision to put all of that inside the Wiim is quite contraversional yet. It may or may not be a win, finally. Let's see how popular that and similar Wiim PSU mods will be and what people will say after some time. Also, it costs about U$130 and requires you to send them Wiim Pro+ to make a mod, and receive it back (that's mostly not possible now due to known postal route limitations).

Indeed, it is a strange step they did. Something like one of the many other power units (like on a photo below), could be a more accurate solution.
