Wiim ultra 2.1 setup with integrated amp

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to use my WiiM Ultra with an integrated 2-channel amplifier and I also have a subwoofer. I would like to keep volume control and bass management on the WiiM Ultra, not on the amplifier.

My goal is roughly this setup:

WiiM Ultra → RCA out → integrated amplifier → speakers
WiiM Ultra → sub out → subwoofer

So the WiiM would handle:

• volume control
• PEQ
• crossover / bass management for the subwoofer

My question is:
Is this the correct way to connect it when using an integrated amplifier? Should the amplifier volume be set to a fixed position (for example around unity gain / a fixed level), and then control the listening volume only from the WiiM Ultra?

I want to avoid double volume control and make sure the subwoofer integration from the WiiM still works correctly.

Any advice from people running a similar setup would be greatly appreciated.

indeed a perlisten r8s sub. I read somewhere that volume control can be a challenge with how you connect it

If you always keep the integrated amp volume at a fixed position and only control the volume on the WiiM Ultra you should avoid any issues.

Perfectly doable if you obey the advice given by @dominikz. But what would be the advantage of an integrated amp over a pure power amp in your use case?

There is much more choice in integrated amps. So thats about it haha.

But you're paying for features you don't need. All you need is one amp that meets your needs, not multiple ones.
