WiiM Ultra and Quobuz skipping

Is anyone else experiencing problems with early track termination/skipping when using Quobuz on Ultra? It does it on every track I play. It works flawlessly on my WiiMPro Plus and streaming from my DNLA server in hi-res works fine. I have opened two tickets with device logs but I get no response at all from the WiiM folks after a week and more.
I've tried what seem to be the usual recommended "fixes" - fade in/out disabled, no preferred dns server, ipv6 off but nothing helps.
As mentioned, Quobuz plays great one my WiiM Pro Plus and on my Sonos system but it is badly broken on the Ultra.
I'm getting frustrated with this and disappointed with the lacklustre support from WiiM.

How are you playing it, via the Qobuz app and Chromecast, or via the WiiM Home app, or doesn’t it matter? Have you tried logging out of Qobuz on the WiiM home app for the Ultra if using the latter?

The Ultra has had issues with Chromecast so if you’re using the Qobuz app, that might be where your issue lies.

Re the tickets you submitted, post their numbers here and hopefully @RyanWithWiim can escalate them for you.

Thanks for the quick response Burnside.
I'm playing via the quobuz app.
I logged out of quobuz and back in just to check.
The tickets are 514971 and 515802.

Yes me too I have a ticket raised for Qobuz ending tracks 10-20 seconds from the end with no Gapless turned on glad it’s not just me
I have ended my Qobuz subscription now because of it and moved to Amazon Music as this doesn’t happen with them

Hi Martin,

Our team is working on it. Please stay tuned. I appreciate your patience!

I just subscribed to tidal to do a sanity check and it has exactly the same problem - skips about 20 secs into the tracks. This is on Jeff Beck, Emotion & Commotion. But if I choose a different album, Peter Gabriel New Blood, it seems fine. Going back to Quobuz, Peter Gabriel New Blood skips about mid-way through. It seems that there is something subtle and complex going on here with different source material.

Again, are you using the Tidal app and Tidal Connect (hopefully not Chromecast) or Tidal from within the WiiM Home app?

Have you rebooted or factory reset your WiiM to see if that helps? Or rebooted your router?

I'm using Tidal from within the WiiM home app.
I haven't tried rebooting the WiiM since subscribing to Tidal in case there was some kind of cacheing issue - it would be bizarre if it was cacheing blocks from two different streaming source but I'll try that next.
I don't see any point in rebooting my router as it is working fine for all my other apps (smart tv, streaming on wiim pro plus, web browsing etc) - there is no cacheing in the router.
I should note that I have fairly reasonable internet performance here - about 150 Mbps download.

I have no compunction about rebooting kit, including my router. If could be a cacheing issue or even a bug in any component, and it is surprising how often it can resolve an issue. I see it as part of basic troubleshooting, but I appreciate not everyone might.

OK - I rebooted (powered off and on) the WiiM Ultra and tried a different track from the emotion & commotion album - skipped after about 22 secs.

I'm a software engineer with a lot of experience and a deep background in IP networking. I think it would be utterly bizarre (and highly unlikely) that this is a routing or router problem that shows up only on the ultra and not on my wiim pro plus.
I really appreciate your input Burnside so please don't take this response as being dismissive.

I feel scared and frightened more and more. Encircled by anarchists. 😂 And my heretical question: Is it necessary to be an IT person to tame the WiiM beasts? 😇

If it is necessary to be an IT person/nerd to use/tame the WiiM beasts then I'm afraid they will have failed. The mass market surely can't be composed solely of nerds. The target audience should be the new breed of audiophiles - reasonably tech savvy but not experts in streaming, networking etc.

No hassle, it’s not easy advising blind when you don’t know the expertise of the person you’re trying to help. :)

Is it resolution, cable or connection dependent? It is strange that it’s impacting two services so there must be a common pinch point which could be what I’ve just suggested to try varying - or indeed it could be a bug in the Ultra firmware that the WiiM engineers will hopefully identify.

I appreciate it can be frustrating - good luck in getting a resolution, but at least WiiM have said they’re on the case.

An IT person would definitely turn it off and on again as standard procedure 🤣
As an old mainframe guy from a good few decades ago, I didn’t have the luxury of turning it off and back on, and used to give the PC guys short shrift when they suggested that rather than identifying the root cause. I guess I’ve mellowed in my old age - or succumbed 😉🤣

I had exactly the same problem Martin if you use tidal connect the fault goes away I have reported the issue to WiiM in my ticket

Amazon works fine Martin, I own albums from Qobuz and the download on my hard drive plugged into my ultra plays fine just not on Qobuz within the WHA
