New and ignorant. Have read and followed directions for setup and connection. So far there is a clock and headphone experience that is satisfying. Virtually no sound from towers even at full volume. Set 'maximum volume' at 75 in case my speakers wake up. Here is my setup:
>Wiim Ultra
>Pioneer AVR VSX 1128
>Speakers all PSB
Towers, Stratus Bronze (biwired)
Centre, Image 8C
Rears, Image 2B
Sub, Alpha SubSonic 5
>Other
Shiit Asgarde 3 Headphone Amp + DAC. Not connected.

Don't understand why the Pioneer is not recognizing toslink connection. The line out is working poorly. No life or volume in the music. My Pixel phone, Samsung tablet, YouTube all sound better than the Wiim Ultra at present. I have turned off, disconnected, unplugged all power and audio connections more than once. Nothing has changed.
Suggestions welcome. Plain English needed.
I'm guessing it's setting changes required at the Pioneer.
Thank you for reading this....

Rec at max volume. Ultra at max volume. No sound from speakers. No sound from test on any and all settings.
It appears that IN 1 on the receiver needs to be assigned to Coax, is page 37 of the VSX 1128 manual helpful?

(Sorry I have never used a Pioneer AVR so I am not familiar with it.)

The default Input Terminals for DVD are HDMI> IN1, Audio> Coax 1 and Component< IN1 as shown on page 38. Coincidentally page 37 para5 uses DVD as a change situation from Coaxial 1 to input function 'TV' , OPT-1.
Thank you everyone as I try to find a solution. I've had the Ultra for about three weeks. No joy as yet.

I don't know the details, but did you switch inputs selecter on the receiver and check all inputs when the WiiM is connected to the receiver's coax?

If there is no sound when the input is DVD, I think you need to select to another input.
