It crossed my mind that could be something like that. Anyway, it’s all good for me with current one 🤩
When the last Amp firmware update was released I got it within 30 minutes of the announcement. Nobody else reported receiving it until days later when a new firmware with a different number appeared and the announcement thread was updated with the new firmware version.

Not bothered waiting mines working just fine atm anyway 👍

Can we have a toggle switch for the updated smarter Arc? It causes more problems than it solves. I was able to use just my Apple TV remote to control the volume of anything that was output from the WiiM, now I have to use the app as well. I would prefer the version before it smartened up.

By the sound of it, I'm glad I blocked all Internet access to my Ultra when Wiim announced a "new smarter HDMI ARC". My HDMI ARC works perfectly for me and I'm not keen in it being broken by any forced download. I will wait till they get it right. Are these firmware updates being tested sufficiently before release?

Updated to 5.2.713664 so far broke album art for WiiM app and smart Arc still breaking audio volume

Normally once the update information get posted here, it would take 2 or more days before update begin proceeding. There maybe a bug on update.

The post before yours reported receiving an update newer than the announced version.

Maybe we have to buy the new Wiim remote to change the volume for Apple TV when using HDMI on the Wiim ?

As it was until now, one could change the volume on 2 channel playback on the WiiM using the metal Apple Remote . Very convenient. You could also use the Apple Remote for Tidal connect in the Wiim . But you couldn’t change the volume on all 4 channels in surround mode , - only for the front channels.

Maybe the new remote can change all four channels at the same time ( just as the plastic remote can ) and they have stopped the ability to change volume with hdmi using the Apple Remote, for copyright reason ?

Is this an apple issue, just like it was with AirPlay ?
