The option is there but the detection is automatic and enters anyway, after all that's how it works. If anything, the option must disable HDMI Arc and not set or detect it otherwise it will automatically introduce it.
It do turn off CEC on the WiiM and that prevents ARC from being used. I don't understand why that doesn't happen in your case?

What is your input selection on the WiiM?

What happens if you remove the HDMI cable?

The HDMI ARC connection was disconnected. With my Samsung TV, which has HDMI ARC support, no matter how I set it, the Samsung TV always detects WiiM It's up to WiiM to disable HDMI ARC. It doesn't, so the Samsung TV, seeing the active connection, mutes the speakers and automatically sets HDMI ARC. To prevent this from happening, I need to disable
HDMI ARC on the TV, but this solution isn't practical because control with other devices, like the Fire TV, no longer works. While waiting for an option to disable the HDMI ARC function on WiiM, I need to unplug the HDMI cable.
@Apache Have you tried these settings?
Auto sensing off Hdmi OFF
Use HDMI Audio Only in HDMI Mode ON
Use TV Speakers when HDMI is inactkve ON

This has to work. Your TV wont mute its own speakers unless you manually selected hdmi output in the ultra.
It works for me.

It seems to me that after the latest update, the sound has become somewhat worse — kind of flat and not very expressive. Have you noticed that?

My ultra updated yesterday.
My preset radio stations are all on preset volume of 24.
My alarm clock (automatic on) in the morning has also a preset volume of 24.
Yesterday I listened smb network on level 30.
This morning the alarm started still on 30. NOT the 24 that is set as alarm volume.
Maybe (my thought) the alarm needs a new entry, so I reconfirmed the alarm settings and will see tomorrow.
But for now the alarm volume problem is not yet solved.
Can anyone confirm ?

Well,
Yesterday I made a new alarm setting, at volume level 24.
Then listened music for a while (smb) and ended on volume level 40.
This morning the Ultra started NOT on the programmed alarm setting of 24 but on the level where I ended yesterday... 40.
So the alarm volume settings are still not Ok.
Sorry to say..... I made a ticket.

Can somebody show me what playback screen options we now have?
I always had it to album cover + blurred background but that option is gone ever since I linked up the device with my Wiim Sound.

When grouped and not leading it seems Ultra uses only a kind of classic playback screen despite of the settings you have something else selected. You cannot change to what you wish either.I also realizaded that.
If ultra is leading then your default playback screen is kept and you can also change on the fly to any other playback screens.
I don't really understand this limitation.

I edit myself, you can actually use any playback screen when ultra isn't leading except the Large Cover 'family'. Classic, vu meter, spectrum and minimalism work.
So I think this must be a bug.

I just opened a ticked for wiim. HDMI arc behavior. I just tested the latest firmware. HDMI behavior is improved but still not working properly. My TV is QE55QN95. My use case is to use hdmi arc only when I explicitly select it. When I have selected hdmi input, everything works properly (sound is fed from the TV to wiim) When I have selected WiFi and wiim is not playing anything, there is a problem. The correct behavior should be that sound is reproduced only from the TV speakers. The problem occurs when wiim is in standby or when wiim is idle. When I power on the TV, initially the sound comes from the internal TV speakers (good). Then after a few seconds, TV connects to wiim and mutes the TV speakers (bad). Finally after a few more seconds, the TV detects that wiim should not be used and starts outputing sound from the TV internal speakers (good). So the problem is that my TV outputs audio to wiim for a few (aka 30 seconds) to wiim. It seems that hdmi arc is not 100% properly disabled in wiim and my TV for a few seconds tries to use the wiim output. Wiim settings are the following: hdmi sense off, hdmi audio only in hdmi mode On, use TV speakers when HDMI is inactive ON. To be honest, I don't know if the bug is in wiim or in my TV bu i do know that my yamaha receiver and my TV are working properly together.

This exactly what I experience as well. I also opened a ticket, but no result so far.

My Sony Bravia TV work as it shall in this case. Only when I manually have the HDMI input selected the TV switch to ARC.

As I see it the CEC is completely off on the WiiM (except when the WiiM is rebooting) and the TV should not be able to see it. Maybe your TV have some kind of memory of the connected device and tries to use it but without success?

When I have selected WiFi and wiim is not playing anything, there is a problem.
Does that problem occur only when the WiiM is Wi-Fi? For example, what happens when the WiiM is optical-in?

Everything works fine for me, I don’t have this issue. My TV is a Hisense

It is same if I use the line-in input. So it is no isolated to WIFI input only.

This weekend I enabled the auto sensing in HDMI input and disabled both options. This combination is working as expected.

BTW my TV is also Samsung ( but much older ) so it can something specific to Samsung implementation of ARC.

You are describing exactly how it worked for me before this firmware. Now it works fine, tv speakers sound as long as hdmi is not selected in wiim ultra.
So you have setting set like this?
This way works for me perfectly, as you wish.

If not working for you I am afraid it has to do with your TV. Explore and play with the HDMI cec menu settings in the tv.

Yes, I have the same settings (for HDMI). Note that my yamaha rxa 2010 is working properly with my TV and my Samsung TV model is quite common and not an old model. I know that wiim is trying to solve the issue and if I understand correctly it has managed to make it work for many different tv models. It is just that they have not managed to make it work for all TV models. Berhaps a hardware restriction? I disconnected the hdmi cable because I cannot have my TV muted for half a minute every time I switch on my TV.
