WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.714249 - Apr 18, 2025

Hi teddybear,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Please send us a feedback ticket using the WiiM Home App. Our engineer will troubleshoot and resolve this for you promptly. Thank you for your patience and support!
Had a response from support with instructions to follow. They eventually worked after several attempts but it's still a bit flakey so will monitor things.

I have tested this feature described in the FAQ.

[Room A]
WiiM amp pro + hisense U7E TV
FW: 5.2.714763 (20250423)
AoatWwTVio : On

[Room B]
WiiM amp + hisense A6G TV
FW: 5.0.712054 (20250327 Beta)
AoatWwTVio : On

First of all, the basic premise is that the voice control on the WiiM remote could not turn off the WiiM. (Music playback is possible, so voice control is no problem.)

So I tried what happens when I press the power button on the remote using two different FW WiiM Amps, and if the FAQ is correct, in Room A, the audio output should switch to the TV speakers as soon as the Amp is powered off.

FW: 5.2.714763 (20250423)

As you can see, pressing the red button on the WiiM remote turns off the WiiM and immediately turns it back on. The TV audio always comes through the WiiM speakers; contrary to the description in the FAQ, the TV speakers do not output anything. Also, switching to the built-in speaker in the TV submenu does not work.

Btw, the behavior is the same when AoatWwTVio is Off. In other words, AoatWwTVio does not seem to be functioning at all here.

[Room B]
FW: 5.0.712054 (20250327 Beta)

In the old FW, pressing the red button on Remote turns off WiiM. It will not turn on again. Here it is silent, but if switch to TV Speakers in the TV submenu, the TV speakers output audio. At least it appears to be working properly, better than Room A.

I hope @WiiM Support and the @WiiM Team can explain here (including the other issues). I recognize that this is not in the realm of free updates, but rather an issue with the basic operation of HDMI.

Thank you.

Thanks for the analysis. There is clearly a different between the FW versions, maybe mostly due to the handling of the HDMI auto sensing?

It's also clear to me that it also depends on what TV model you have. My Sony Bravia do not behave exactly as the Hisense, I can see that. The Sony Bravia TV follows the ARC mode of the WiiM and are changing speakers depending on the WiiM state in all cases.

Maybe we could create a test case sheet and fill it out for the different TV models? Also including what we are expecting in each case, for both the WiiM and the TV.

We will need to find a common ground for all HDMI requirements and propose that to @WiiM Team .

I have no idea what the cause of the problem is.
It should be noted that Room A and B both use the latest version of the app for Android, so rigorous testing with the earlier app is not possible.

If the team wants to do that, I will spare no effort to make a Case Sheet, but I will wait for their response first. 🙂
