I have a question for the users of external dac, and maybe E70 Velvet in particular. Picked up the Dac in question on Friday and were looking FW to testing it out during the weekend with the kids being out of the house But it was somewhat spoiled by the hiss and popps one can hear in the video.
It is the same outcome with usb-coax-optical. Fixed volum ore not( from the wiim) any sample rate switch latency setting ore VRM setting. Can add that my Poweramp is an old Rotel Rb980. Going back to the ultra alone all is silent , and when feeding the cd player direct to the dac , and it acting like a preamp, No problem either .
the hiss starts as soon as the track starts when the dac is connected, pause a song , ore the short period inbetween songs = silent
UPPDATE: as of now ( after I made video ) i have no ‘hiss’ issue running it in ‘fixed resolution’ mode on both coax and SPDIF-optical. Any samplerate/bit depth workes fine. But Turn OFF fixed resolution , ore Connect and try USB again, and problem is there straight away.
Side question, whats the benefit running USB between the Ultra and external dac over coax/optical ? ( noob in this and just have this idea USB is best from reading forums
