Auto updated again, and stuttering came back (WHY??! PLEASE STOP)

They would know that anyway if they read the user manual, see post #17 above.

Yep, everytime Wiim updates my device I try to reboot and then I also try to disconnect it from the wall socket, but device keeps stuttering until I replace the new firmware with an older one.

So we the customers will know that Wiim will force updates on our devices thanks to the manual.... nice... but if we are reading the manual is only because we already bought the device, too late don't you think?

I know you think I'm an annoying moron for speaking out loud about this issue, but I have the stupid belive that customers must be informed that they are buying a device that will be tinkered by the manufacturer whenever they want to, and in the way they will want to, this is a must to allow us to take an informed decision about buying it or not.

I own many devices that supports software updates, smart tv, phone, tablets, computers, videogame systems, media players, car audio system, even my speakers support updates, but the Wiim Ultra is the ONLY device that wont respect my decisions, and wont allow me to keep it working as I decide...

It’s how the device was designed. If firmware has issue like stutter majority on this forum will say and report them. It’s on your end that has issue. Maybe your wifi is congested and has lots of interference or your broadband is slow as dial up. It’s not nice bashing wiim about update when you’re the only one that has stutter issue. Send message to wiim via app they can look at your log and suggest a fix.

Interesting way of framing the issue, so my device is working perfectly, then Wiim decides to tinker with it and starts to fail, and somewho my Wifi is the problem and the issue its on my end... very very interesting.

And please, tell me, when I revert the changes Wiim did to my device, and it starts to work fine again, how exactly that fixed the interferences of my broadband/congestion of my wifi?

Have you received a reply to your support ticket yet? Until then, there is very little point in you ranting about this on the forum, your issue is with WiiM support, and only they can resolve your issue.

As a newish user I was surprised there wasn't a way to turn off auto updates, I do it on all my equipment as I want to decide when I update.... I think it's something @WiiM Team should include in the next update..
 
Well, this is pure drama once again. With the app, you can decide for yourself whether to install updates or simply ignore them. So far, everything has always been fine. Thanks, Wiim.

Then it updates it's self, the only way to stop updates is unplug it! I am going to test blocking the ota in pihole, if it works it will allow me to choose..
 
I have suggested @WiiM Support before that they include at least the 3 latest firmware versions as installs in the device Beta Testing page and also have the WHA as downloadable packages.

In this way it's possible to revert to a working version if something stops working.

I have also encouraged @WiiM Team to spend some more time on regression testing. It has been a bit lacking lately.

I fail to understand why this is a big deal.... Never owned a device where I can't decide when to update.. I haven't experienced a bad update from Wiim myself but doesn't mean it won't happen...

Edit... I lied just thought of one device, my Xbox series X and it annoys the hell out of me lol
 
Normally, WiiM devices don't update from a beta firmware, ever. In the past you always had to actively decide to leave a running beta.

I cannot completely rule out that this might have changed now you can directly pick beta firmwares from the WiiM Home app.

In any case, if you have a reason to stay on a particular firmware version, send feedback to WiiM through the app and they will be able to put your devices MAC address on a blocking list.

They will probably ask for said good reason before they do, since their're interested in the latest firmware working for everyone, naturally.

Also Amazon Echo devices and Virginmedia Hubs.

Nope no updates for a ONT if I used my ISPs router that would update... Unlike Virmin or ISPs that use shared IPS (cgnat), I can plug my Asus router in directly, no need to set the ISPs router as a modem etc... My ISPs router is in a box somewhere, as soon as the tech left I plugged in my own routers (2x set as AI Mesh) set then up with U/P done..
