Beta Test: Audio Spectrum Display for WiiM Ultra

Just testing...
Yes, eye-candy effect is alive and kicking but two rows for track title and below again track title and album is excessive and cuts the vertical estate available for the visualization, thus heavily limiting how many levels are represented.

At this beta stage it's nothing to write home obviously, but let's see what this thing could become.
At least, no longer crazy needles to deal with. 😆

Interesting that it works for line out but not bluetooth out to a speaker

It works mainly well but due to screen size and distance from listening position to WiiM Ultra I would prefer less bands... If that could be configurable would be great: 8, 16, 32 bands...

Another nice add-on would be the option to have a kind of previous maximum indicator with some decay time (per band).

That is actually what @WiiM Team showed in the first post in the tread.

I don't know why they changed that in the implementation?

It's probably also been mentioned that the opening post has simple 'round' values on the axis, such as 500, 1k, 2k, 4k whereas the actual screen has 1k6, 2k5, 6k3 etc.
My RME shows third octave bands too (vs octave bands in the opening post), but it does feel more cluttered.
Maybe just because there are more 'buckets' and therefore more labels?

i actually like it the way it is..if only it could indicate on the signal level, just like the VU meter

needs adjustment for people that are using fixed volume because it`s pegged all the time
Yes, the values are wrong. It is not about adjument, it's about showing the correct value on the dBFS scale based on the sample value. It's the same issue as with the VU meter.

@WiiM Team i turned on the Ultta today (from standby) to a blank screen, with only backlight working. it wasn't responding at all.
had to unplug it from power and it booted normally. then it updated to a new beta firmware built today 20251105 ver 5.2.734644 and rebooted normally after the update. it's working normally now.
first time this happens to me with the Ultra. should i be worried?

Just got a new update for this .. :) much better!
Yes, display is better reflecting the signal. We still don't know what the scale is but I guess it's a kind of dBFS?

There is still no peak indicator, as depicted in the OP.

The picture in the settings don't match either.

Now "just" missing input signal display and color options.

I still can't use it for much but nice eye candy.

Hi WiiM Community,

We are looking for beta testers to experience our Audio Spectrum option on the WiiM Ultra Now Playing screen feature.

Experience your music visually with the new Audio Spectrum display. Watch real-time frequency bars move with your songs, adding a dynamic visual layer to your listening experience. This feature brings your WiiM Ultra’s screen to life, letting you see the rhythm, feel the energy, and enjoy a more immersive connection with your music.

To try this feature:
1. Update the WiiM Home app to version 3.3.9 or later.
2. Go to Device Settings → Device Info → Join Beta Testing and select Audio Spectrum Display.
3. Then go to Device Settings → Screen → Playback, and choose Spectrum as the playback screen.
Better
but
I'm not sure
I need
Ethernet displayed.

Maybe temporary
For input change.

Repeat request for
Using input signal
And orange bars.

The delay between
Switching from one display
To another, delay of restarting, continues
As raised in a ticket

Scale seems a good attempt to match 1/3 oct, there's obvious more estate for level bars and that's good.
What puzzles me is that shown levels seems to be slightly compressed when cranking 100% output level, but we're still at beta and it's ok!

Resuming, more endorphines looking at it and the feeling of a little step forward. ;)

Note that Spectrum display don't work for Bluetooth output, as we also see for the VU meter.

Hi, Could you tell me if this works with the WiiM Amp Ultra, I have followed the steps but says it's not available.
