Ongoing Beta Beta Test: Plex

Not sure if this is the best place to put this info/discovery but here goes...

If you play something from your Plex source in Wiim and then try and add that track to your Plex "loved tracks" what actually happens is "something" removes all tracks from your "loved tracks" playlist and then adds the now playing track as the entire content of that list. I had this happen just now and to my horror my "loved tracks" in my plex music library went from 191 tracks to 1 track :cry::cry:.

Luckily Plex does auto backups (one ran yesterday) so i was able to restore my Plex library to yesterday's backup to get all my loved tracks back on the list. This issue doesn't happen if you add tracks to "manual" Plex playlists.

I agree that an easier/better implementation might just be to get Plexamp to Cast to Wiim products natively (not via Chromecast - since I think that often results in re-sampling/down sampling and isn't gapless AFAIK).

You should raise a ticket in the app for WiiM to review.

Not sure how long ago they "fixed" this but just using the plex integration on my pro plus now, and it's reporting playback to my plex server so my webhook scrobbler will work. Tidy 😇👌

I've had my ultra for about six months, Plexweb and Tautulli have always reported what is playing...

Ha, when they initially rolled the plex playback feature out, it wasn't reporting plays back to the server. I've been on-again off-again with trying it out, so only just noticed that it was working the other day

Since the last firmware update (20251218) for my Wiim Ultra, Plex playlists now have the following issues:
- The Wiim Android and Windows apps are showing the wrong Kbps (16-bit/44.1kHz flac should be close to 1000kbps, only showing 200-300 Kbps)
- Many songs are not played fully. It skips to the next song half way through.
Both issues are new. I have been using Plex playlists for over a year now.
I also have a Wiim Mini (20251102). For the Mini the apps still show the correct Kbps and the songs don't skip.

Hopefully you’ve submitted a ticket to WiiM with this info so they can inspect your device logs and provide a fix.

Happy to report that after raising a ticket through the Wiim app, support have reverted the firmwares on my problem devices (Ultra & Sound). Plex playlists with FLAC files now work again. They promised to work on a fix in new firmware.
