Qobuz Qobuz Connect released

Yep, version 9.0.0.0 on Android, from release notes "Qobuz Connect (first release)"; I'm away from home right now so can't confirm if everything is working fine (hope so!🤞)

Can confirm working beautifully on my iPhone 16 Pro and M4 iPad Pro! Updated app did not hit Play Store yet on my Android tablet. Android DAP I was able to update, but the app is not seeing my WiiM Ultra for some reason. I downloaded the latest Mac version for Apple silicon from Qobuz's site, but it seems that one has not yet been updated to support Qobuz Connect.

iOS and Mac apps (non-beta) now working nicely with Connect
Did you download the app off of Qobuz's site for your Mac? There's no Mac app in the Apple app store. I downloaded the one from Qobuz's site, but it either does not support Qobuz Connect or it's not finding my WiiM Ultra. The updated apps for my iPhone and iPad are working perfectly.

Do your iOS and Mac apps see each other as QC endpoints?

My iPhone and iPad see each other as well as the WiiM Ultra. My Mac is not seeing anything but itself and Microsoft Teams Audio. They're all on the same eero mesh, so it's not an issue of the laptop connecting to the cable router's wifi instead.

And the Windows Qobuz app updated to support Qobuz Connect. Qobuz Connect available to my Wiim Pro and three HEOS devices. Currently, streaming 24bit 192KHz to a group of three HEOS devices.
Nice to hear. Do I understand it correctly, that there is no need for the beta firmware on the Wiim Pro any more, the standard 4.8.714841 version support QC?

The GA Ultra firmware update from April 29th added QC functionality. Or possibly the one before that. In any event, most WiiM stock firmware now supports Qobuz Connect -- just not on the Mini of course, but also not on at least a couple of other devices.

is there any benefit of staying on the beta fw on the WiiM devices?
will it still receive updates with qc already available using the release fw?
i haven't switched back to the release fw on my Pro Plus yet

Someone at Qobuz Club noticed that v9.0.0.0 removed the ability to prevent streaming over mobile and/or WiFi data channels, which will be a serious problem for some folks. If that will impact you, I'd suggest you stay on the beta app as long as you can, with the risk that it may just stop working at some point. I'm hoping Qobuz will remediate that issue ASAP.

I don't know to what extent interoperability will be affected by beta vs. release firmware on WiiM devices.

that is not a use case for me and i've already updated to v9.0.0.0.
as someone who only streams qobuz and uses qc, i was more thinking of..as long as the beta program doesn't end, why switch to the release fw on my Pro Plus?
unless the release fw brings the usual (quality or performance improvements and/or bugfixes) over the beta fw, i might as well stay on the beta fw

On my Mac desktop, I got a relaunch notice after a Qobuz app update.

In the Qobuz app, "About," it says:

JS version8.0.0-b009

Desktop version 8.0.0-b009 (Apple)

So I have Qobuz Connect! A Qobuz desktop app popup confirms I've been allowed in for the QC program.
Had applied fairly recently direct at Qobuz where they asked detailed questions down to equipment.

But sadly, I was rolled back to the 12/19/24 firmware.

Can someone tell me how I can get the firmware updated so I can try QC? Please.
A reset does not work as I've done it twice and I'm still on the rolled back Dec. 24 firmware. :(

I've tried reseting from the app and then also held the play button down for ten seconds with the white light flashing white and red. But on reboot and setting up, it still shows the old December 2024 firmware.

Are you still on the beta firmware? Got to device settings in the mobile app and at the bottom should be a leave beta option

Hi, was never on the beta firmware. I see that it's not a regular firmware update option. Have to go through the "beta" QC button to do it. Thank you!!

I have to get unlocked from the 12/19/24 firmware but can (and did) use the beta firmware which works!

Now trying Qobuz Connect. WiiM never sounded better!! 🐸

@WiiM Support @WiiM Team note that /httpapi.asp?command=getPlayerStatus does NOT return "play" in the "status" field when something's playing via Qobuz Connect. Only way to tell if something's playing via this API right now is to store "curpos" and check to see whether it's changing.

GetTransportInfo via the UPnP interface works as expected.

While folks are discussing various connections aspects of Qobuz Connect via WiiM devices, thought I'd add some listening feedback.

On my tube monoblock system, it's a very nice, sizable audio improvement. I'm hearing additional depth and detail beyond any technical evaluation from albums in 192K by the Cars, Blondie to 44K recordings like Stevie Ray Vaughn Live at Carnegie Hall. Ran the room correction L/R again to capture the best match as well.

It's not only detail. It's a richer listening experience across the audio range. This is heard better on recordings such as jazz and classical. Definitely the best I've heard on Christian Sands' album, "Reach."

Will go out on a limb and say this is the best PCM performance I've gotten out of my system using the WiiM and to be fair direct from a Mac M1 Air via USB to the RME. Thank you very much Qobuz and WiiM! This is truly outstanding! YMMV

Related equipment: WiiM Pro, RME ADI-1 FS DAC, Schiit Saga+, McIntosh LS340, Richard Gray RGPC 400, 2 Cisco Meraki switches from FIOS fiber service (to the WiiM and 5v LPS, optical audio to the RME).
Both the Schiit preamp & LS340 speakers are recapped.
