[Completed Beta] Room Correction for Individual Channels

@WiiM Support @WiiM Team can you please give us an update on this feature? It has been on beta for nearly 3 months.
Hi Smartplug, team

As mentioned earlier, the current room correction (RC) operates differently based on your setup:
  • Without a subwoofer: RC uses independent EQ adjustments for the left and right channels.
  • With a subwoofer: RC automatically switches to stereo EQ for improved stability during calibration.
Our team is actively exploring ways to enhance this process:
  1. Level Matching: Matching the levels of the main speakers and subwoofer before applying independent EQ adjustments for the left and right channels.
  2. Expanded Bands: Adding more EQ bands and using separate bands for the main speakers and subwoofer.
This requires extensive testing with various microphones, especially on Android devices, which takes time. We appreciate your patience as we work on these improvements, and we’re confident the updates will significantly enhance your experience. Thank you for your understanding!

How will level matching work? I found I could get flatter response without large levels of positive gain by increasing the sub volume manually before applying room correction. This way room correction only reduces peaks.

@WiiM Support The choice to use independent L/R RC without a subwoofer seems to have disappeared. I don't know when it disappeared but it isn't available with the latest Android WiiM Home App.

Like what @slartibartfast said, it’s doesn’t work. There was no choice even when sub is off. I’m using iOS with latest app.

Ah I noticed room correction was only working as a stereo pair, not indiviudal- so massive amounts of cancellation going on my main pair, so I'll leave room correction until this is added.

So far difference is subtle- but at least offers correction range, max boost etc.

I'll leave it until left and right measurement and corretion is added (and I guess that would be time alignement also)

Good evening, having full-range Adam S3V monitors, is it advisable to measure with active subwoofer option even without sub?
Thanks and best regards!
You mean the option in the room configuration settings?

With subwoofer output not enabled I did not see any difference between this option being on or off. And that's how it should be. In fact, the option doesn't make much sense when sub out is not enabled. The comparison was done on the WiiM Amp, but the WiiM Ultra will behave just the same.

I've found a bug with room correction. I ran RC, on default values - 10db gain. It applied cuts and peaks. Ok for cutting peaks, but it also applied boosting. That's not good.

So I set max gain to 00db, thinking it would only cut peaks. I was wrong, for auto corrections it set everything to 0!!

So there needs to be a max boost and max cut setting

But at the end of the day, did it improve sound?

Once it applied +10db boosts, I disabled room correction. I'll use it once Wiim set seperate max boost and max cut values. Also once they add seperate left & right measurements, correction and timings.

Or I'll use my manual REW measurements/corrections enter in manually for each speaker, as that will allow L/R as well, plus offer 0 boost, 10db cuts etc

At this time, only amp has both feature timing and independent peq rc. I got the amp latest firmware but also I’m awaiting for ultra firmware that include what’s on the amp.
