I owned a 1070 avr and did the whole spl thing. It was well made but I bought a DenonIt's not great; it's what Yamaha uses for room correction. It generally just involves plugging in the mic, and it does some test tones, and that's it. I had a Yamaha receiver about 1.5 years ago. I found that you would need to go in and fiddle to get it to suit your preference after using the mic.
I could not find any clear advice on YAPO that i understood. I am not the brightest and have to study the audio stuff for hours, though. I think the Wiim software is very good for people like me, however. I go on asr audio and its like taking a class. I just started to understand the graphs.
