Yes, but Media Server is a more accurate name.....
Posted on the WiiM facebook page almost an hour ago - I was waiting on @RyanWithWiiM to announce it here before saying anything, but as you've stolen his thunder, here's the blog page https://www.blog.wiimhome.com/post/introducing-wiim-sound-lite-hi-res-audio-in-a-minimalist-design
In this blog they sayActually it is only compatible with LMS, but the speaker itself is a Squeezelite renderer, so making mention of LMS is a bit confusing as the WiiM units do not themselves run LMS, they only receive streams from some existing instance of LMS via Squeezelite.
The WiiM Sound Lite smart speaker arrives with no screen or remote, but a lower price | What Hi-Fi? https://share.google/UwyZwDmM9jrsEKQUL
If you're able to flag any with me, please do so and I'll make sure they're corrected. I'll let the deal support folks know as well.Yes. Unfortunately @WiiM Support don't really know what they are selling
Similar I see that the Sound is announced with AirPlay support on several dealer sites.
While they don’t mention AirPlay by name, audiophonics.fr do mention Siri voice control which as I understand it would require AirPlay support to find and send audio. It doesn’t support AirPlay, ergo can’t support Siri voice control.Hey all, the forum announcement is up as well, pretty much the same as the Blog post. The forum doesn't allow for scheduled posts, so I have to do it manually while I can schedule the Blog posts to go up at a certain time.

Thanks! I'll let the team know.While they don’t mention AirPlay by name, audiophonics.fr do mention Siri voice control which as I understand it would require AirPlay support to find and send audio. It doesn’t support AirPlay, ergo can’t support Siri voice control.
I was also considering this solution because of the re-chargeable power supply.German shops lists the Lite as available by mid of february, 2026.
Thats why i've choosen the AudioPro A15W instead. Was reduced by 100€ a while ago in a german audio shop.("second chance item").
Bigger, heavier and still a bit more expensive - but also battery powered when needed and fit's my needs perfect.
But i would like to see more battery powered compact solutions in the future.
Thanks very much for your reply, @85mk7 - interesting to hear that the speaker "fit's absolutely flawless into the app".@onebrow
The A15W ist a decent speaker for my taste - but we mainly bought it 'cause of it's internal battery for taking it out into the garden or the garage from time to time where WiFi is still available.
Soundwise it's at least good - probably "good+" but i can't judge it 'cause i have no comparision in that range/size of speakers. But it's bigger than expected (by size and weight) and performs well at low volumes, too which is a good sign.
It also fit's absolutely flawless into the app and even the room correction feature is available... I had no issues - it feels and behave like a good brother to our Wiim Ultra and Wiim Pro+.
I also love the hardware control features on the unit as well as the 6 presets that are programmable inside the app. So i dont need the smartphone to start my favourite playlist or preprogrammed radio station.
The retail price in Europe is 399€ (~ $470) incl.VAT - but i got it for 290€ (~ $340) incl. VAT from a retailer 'cause it was a "shipping returns unit" in perfect conditions. I couldn't resist for this price.
So if you find a deal - give it a try until Wiim announces an own battery powered speaker.
I wonder why there are so little Infos/Reviews/Videos about the A15W - it's like the official Wiim Version has been overseen by all the reviewers and tech channels?!
For their new W series speakers, AudioPro heavily advise the use of their own new AudioPro app. I wouldn't go as far as to describe their range as "WiiM enabled" even though their firmware shares some features more commonly found in WiiM devices. While the WiiM app may well recognise these speakers and allow you to integrate them to a greater or lesser degree, I don't think this is guaranteed but relies on WiiM's good graces, unlike the Audio Pro app's non-handling of WiiM devices.Thanks very much for your reply, @85mk7 - interesting to hear that the speaker "fit's absolutely flawless into the app".
So - do you do you have to download the AudioPro app to achieve this, or does the Wiim app "find" it as a Wiim enabled device?
(I must say that the info on English version of the clunky AudioPro Website is generally very poor and unclear)
So, for the time being, though, I think I'll probably continue to wait & watch......
@onebrow
I dont have the AudioPro App installed.
It works directly inside of the Wiim App - it fully reconigzed the speaker without any other app.
As far as i understand the new W versions of speakers are fully Wiim enabled, they run on Wiim Firmware - i can't see any downsides or difference to my Wiim Units but thats just my end user experience
the older non W Versions are another story.
@Burnside
Yes, it got an additional 3 digits at the end of the firmware version... But why should this be a problem to identify a licensed third party product from another company?
I mean we are not talking about a hacked firmware or anything like this.
The collaboration between AudioPro and Wiim/Linkplay started back in 2024 - barely a year before the W Versions came available. Even the non W Versions became partly compatible.
But with the release of the W versions by AudioPro i have no doubt that Linkplay wants to open the own technology to valuable partners.
But these are just my 2 cents
They have - the WiiM Sound, Sound Lite and Sub Pro. No battery ones yet admittedly, but who knows what they might have in the pipeline.Lets face it: if you want a battery powered "Wiim" Speaker, there are no options at this stage by Wiim.
Sure... You could build something around a Wiim Mini with an additional battery powered speaker. But it's quite different than a all in one solution.
If battery use is essential - the AudioPro way is something to consider. Even if there will be no new features in the future i would be fine - as long as they play as expected inside the Wiim system without flaws.
Wiim should build an own lineup of speakers, including battery powered ones![]()
