iBroadcast has been mentioned a couple of times but I want to bring it up again as a streaming service to be integrated into Wiim.

iBroadcast is a brilliant service. I believe everyone who has a digital music collection should at least have a look at it because, if nothing else, it can be used as a free back up service. But for those of us who use it as a streaming service for our personal music collections, I think it's a great fit for Wiim.

I can already hear some certain someones say "Why does everything have to be integrated? Why can't you just use their app?" Normally, I'd agree. It could be argued there's no point with Qobuz, for example, because with connect the music plays direct from the Qobuz servers to the wiim. There's no point integrating Emby or Jellyfin or Lyrion etc because their apps will let you play direct from your personal server to the Wiim.

But iBroadcast doesn't have "connect". This means my phone has to be involved (iBroadcast Servers > Phone > Wiim) and that also means the (in my opinion) awful protocol that is chromecast or bluetooth, so no lovely 192/24 playback, sketchy gapless and no leaving your phone upstairs or down the back of the sofa. Why get the phone involved in the playback of the music at all?

Anyway, that's my twopenn'orth.

It's integrated into Lyrion (LMS). I agree that it is an excellent service

Yes I have an old mini pc that runs LMS specifically for iBroadcast. It's a good workaround and I'm grateful for the plugin. But it still requires a running server on my end and the whole point is to not need one.

My music is on iBroadcast's servers and available for me to stream, I have some streaming devices (wiims), there's a decent API (as proved by the LMS plugin). Come on people, make it happen!

The Sonos implementation is very good - music selectable by album, playlists, recently added, etc.

I really wanted ibroadcast to work for me a while back also but it was just too buggy, at least for me it was. I even paid for one month of premium to test it out. The displayed bitrates were all over the place and not accurate to what I was actually playing, even though I would select original quality. Also alot of album art would randomly show or not show.

Never had any problems with the free tier - but then all my stuff was just mp3s.

That's not my experience but maybe I'm just blaming Chromecast. I only use it when out and about and in the car where it transcodes everything before playback. There, for me, it is far more reliable than any self hosted solution and, believe me, I've tried them all.

But...., the Lyrion plugin works perfectly. Any resolution. Which is why I'd like Wiim integration. To take the stupid phone (Chromecast) out of the playback chain.

Let's go Wiim! I know it can be done and I know it will be excellent!

I used to have a Sonos system and it was all integrated.
Now, switching to a Wiim system, it's a bit of a mess.

If you can be bothered, and to be honest it's a bit of a faff to set up, the Lyrion music server plugin works perfectly. But it is a workaround on top of a workaround on top of a workaround.

Integration would be preferable in this case.
