Pricing & Availability

WiiM Sound launches in Q3 2025 on Amazon and select retailers. Stay tuned for pricing details, we'll announce them when the product becomes available. Full details at www.wiimhome.com.

Will it become Roon Ready at some future firmware update?
A choice of colours perhaps, e.g. white?
Roon Ready is going through certification, and I'll let the team know you'd like to see some more colors! For now, you can make changes to the screen like you can with the Ultra.

Does the WiiM Sound have a built in microphone for Alexa or does one need to use the WiiM remote to issue Alexa commands?

I was wondering the exact same thing! :D

@RyanWithWiiM Can we expect some acoustic measurements to be provided? Ideally in
CEA 2034-A-2015/spinorama format. Were you perhaps planning on shipping samples to Amir (ASR) and/or Erin (erinsaudiocorner.com) to be measured? Thanks!

This is a very basic question, but can you set alarms on this device so it can be used in the bedroom?
Yes!

No built in Mic, but it ships with the new WiiM Voice Remote 2 for voice control.

We'll share more in the future!

Smart presets via the remote or touchscreen I take it if you don’t use the app? It would be great if WiiM could implement voice control of presets as the documentation has suggested for a long time

Personally I would love it if it offered some of the Alexa functionality for calling up music from various sources but wasn't connected to Amazon in any way (and did less data collection in the process). I'd rather cut the cord on companies like Amazon, Apple, Sonos, etc. because I don't want to be tied to their marketing decisions that may dramatically change a device's functionality long after I've purchased it. It may run counter to the marketing strategies of those companies of getting you as deeply in/dependent on their ecosystem as possible to keep a user locked into their revenue stream, but for me a big draw of Wiim is that it's more platform agnostic. I'm a lot less likely to keep buying new Wiim devices if they went away from that. Or god forbid their devices started making suggestions to add to a shopping list and constantly giving unwanted "suggestions".

I get enough ads and push notifications everywhere else. My music systems are my sanctuary where I can shut out all that unwanted noise and allow music to be the focus. At least for me, anything that messes with that and/or wants to prioritize generating licensing fees over giving me choices of what I can connect to has no place in my listening spaces.

Will it support squeezelite like other WiiM devices? Same question for the WiiM Amp Ultra. Thanks!

Would be interesting to understand the functionality if used (a pair) as active speakers for a Wiim Ultra.
Although you could theoretically hook this up to the Ultra using the 3.5mm aux input, you shouldn't look at it like any other basic active speaker.

You can however sync playback with the Ultra or any other WiiM streamer + use them in combination with the Ultra to create a wireless surround sound setup.

I agree, it would be great to have on-device / local voice control directly in WiiM smart speakers - something like the Sonos Voice Control in the Sonos speakers.
TBH the only things I'd want voice control for would be to basically change volume, skip track, play/pause and call-up content to be played back. I dislike the idea of feeding Amazon / Google / Apple algorithms for something as simple as this.

Depending on the price this will probably compete quite favorably with the standard homepod.
The 35hz spec seems reasonable given what apple managed with theirs.
If it uses the wiim remote then it should be really easy for older people to use as well, just preset some radio station or playlist to the buttons.
Given the 5,1 surround wiim offers now that also opens some interesting possibilities.
