Today, we're thrilled to unveil a feature the WiiM Lab has been hard at work on. Meet TrueTuning powered by IntentIQ, an all new AI enhanced way to get the greatest joy from your music!
We know digging through the settings isn’t fun, so we’ve enabled TrueTuning with IntentIQ for all users! If you decide not to experience songs the way they were meant to be heard, you can opt out. Be aware, that you’ll be missing out on the best music listening possible. Go to Settings > Playback > AI Optimization > TrueTuning > Disable (this will require creating an account, verified with a government issued ID and may take up to a 72-hour processing window).
What is IntentIQ?
Simply put, IntentIQ powers the WiiM TrueTuning with the ability to identify the core of a song and to fix what might be missing to make it perfect. Every recording in existence contains a gap between what an artist intended and what was technically possible at the time of creation. IntentIQ, WiiM's proprietary AI model trained on 40 million critical listening sessions, 12 million lyrics analyses, and 6.2 million academic musicology papers is designed to address this. We’ve been building IntentIQ with industry experts to close the gap in existing recordings to find the true tune within the existing recording and present to you the most pure experience possible.
IntentIQ assigns every track an Intent Score (0–100) measuring how faithfully the final recording reflects the artist's original creative vision, accounting for studio limitations, label interference, era-specific production constraints, and lyrical compromise. Tracks scoring below 73 are flagged for TrueTuning.
What does TrueTuning do?
TrueTuning is the real-time remastering engine that acts on IntentIQ's analysis. When a track scores below threshold, TrueTuning performs four simultaneous operations before the first note reaches your speakers:
Acoustic remastering
Stem separation and re-rendering optimized for your specific DAC, amplifier, and speaker profile on file. Tempo, key, and dynamic range adjusted to your room's RT60 fingerprint.
Vocal intent restoration
Using the artist's verified interview archive and original demo recordings where available, IntentIQ reconstructs the vocal performance the artist originally envisioned before production constraints intervened.
Lyric intent correction
Many lyrics were altered under label pressure, creative compromise, or censorship. TrueTuning's LyricIQ module cross-references original drafts, handwritten notes, and artist correspondence to restore what was meant to be said. This goes beyond what made it to press in an experience akin to a live performance with the artist themselves.
Seamless delivery
The TrueTuned version plays in place of the original. Track title, artist name, and artwork remain unchanged. The experience is identical, but better.
A note from our Director of Acoustic Intelligence at WiiM Labs

"Artists are constrained by the era they record in. Kurt Cobain didn't have access to WiiM's ARTM-7 model. Marvin Gaye's engineer had never seen an RT60 report. We're not changing their music. We're completing it."
