just wanted to signal, that I got an Ultra now, as well, in addition to my Pro Plus ( that I run with a Shanti Allo linear PSU and an SMSL SU-1 DAC). Couldn't be happier!

I also have these 2 DACs and I hear the differences. SMSL is more extensive in bass. With the same EQ, the same volume, there is more bass.

Instead, the DAC from WiiM plays brighter on top.

You mean, the same volume setting or the same volume?

Such massive differences in tonality don't technically exist between such similar devices. If you perceive such a difference, there's pretty much for sure a different explanation.
