Link EQ to Audio Output

As a WiiM Ultra owner I regularly find myself switching between Line Out (2.1 hifi system) and Headphones. The issue I have is that I want a completely different EQ setting between the outputs. I know I can easily go in and switch it in the app, but this is just another step that can get missed and then I’m not enjoying my music to its fullest.

There’s a couple of ways of solving this IMO:
  1. Allow the association of an EQ to an audio output (there’s already a bit of a design affordance for this with DAC filter / sample rate).
  2. I really think there’s good reason to create Listening Modes. These would be a collection of Sound settings (Audio Output / Subwoofer / EQ / Input). These could then be assigned as Presets on the remote. This would solve a number of existing challenges: my EQ problem, the issue with having to disable the sub if you’re using an external headphone amp via optical/coax, the lack of input switching on the remote, and more.

I'm in exactly the same boat and would love to see 2 but even 1 would be a huge win!

I hate when I realize a min into a song that I've left my headphones EQ on after switching to my speakers.

You can do this with smart presets.

Ah! I thought presets had to be tied to specific content, but looks like they can be used for just settings.

Thanks for the pointer!

Still would be nice to tie EQs to outputs, however, so I don't have to use preset slots to just change my output

For me the smart presets don't turn off EQ settings, if I switch from headphones that are using eq to optical out it keeps the EQ of the headphones out rather than EQ off, is this a bug then?
You would need to specify which EQ to use for the optical input preset. Unfortunately you can't currently turn EQ off using a preset but you can use a "flat" EQ.

Based on this statement and this response from @WiiM Support, seems like something along these lines might be coming soon in a beta release!
Maybe, but there was no reply to this 🤔

Yes, also no response my follow-up question either. I guess we'll just need to wait and see. :)
