I’ve tried 3 different optical cables for my WiiM Mini and can’t get a snug connection with any of them. It’s always a loose fit. Still works but cables can fall out easily. Wondering what cables will snap in for a snug fit.

I don’t recall my Wiim coming with an optical cable. I’ll have to pull out my big box with about a million cables and look.

Before you do, please check the contents of the Mini package. Have you thrown it away already?

The Wiim cable fits nicely and is also one of the few that will pass 24/192. But, I found it did not fit well with my DAC. I ended up buying a Pro and using coax output for this exact reason. The mini is now used in a secondary application using analog out. I will say that the cutouts for the coax are too small for some coax cables though.

This morning I connected a Belkin sound form to my ultra to use airplay. Used the usb on the ultra for power and the optical cable that came with my ultra. Works like a charm. Sounds perfect.

I dug through my box of cables, found one that I wasn’t sure of what is was from. Figured it must have come with the WiiM. Connected to the WiiM, and sure enough, a nice snug fit. Far as I can tell, no noticeable degradation in sound quality.

I bought a Wiim Pro and had a problem with the optical output on the first unit I got. At first I thought it was a problem with the cable and/or a loose connection. I would get occasional dropouts when playing 192Hz/24 bit HD audio. Wiggling the optical cable on the Wiim end made it worse. When a new cable had the same problem, I requested a replacement Wiim Pro. The problem went away with the replacement unit.
Perhaps there are issues with some of the optical connectors on various Wiim units?

There won’t be any degradation in sound quality with different optical cables - they’ll either work or they won’t.
