perhaps an effort in qualité in futur generation of wiim?
if thought of "pre-amp" with analog inputs to num...it requires this kind of care...

I would use it like this:
Turntable w/MC cartridge > Cambridge Alva Duo > MiniDSP PocketADC > WiiM Ultra

If you want a good phono amp with digital outputs @Claudius there's a couple I know of: The Parks Audio Waxwing and the MiniDSP ADept.

49 dollars finished product "in box" etc ok without power supply (?)... gives a good idea of what is possible now , for serious audio ingenering for not very much money

maybe will motivate wiim on the next projects all the more if presented as "preamp" to make a good quality on the input part (like headphone part...when we see the quality developments of the small dedicated external sticks)

It might be a better analog to digital convertor than the one in the wiim, so you might use this instead of the wiim line in.

I guess. But to be honest I wouldn't know what to do with it or where it would fit with my WiiM and amplifier, or if I would even hear any difference with my aging ears!

Is it a kind of short for analog to digital?

As I have no idea what any of that means I shall have to admit to being one of the confused - and even more so now.

It is not a DA converter but an AD converter. Based on specs and measurements it is better than she AD converters onboard the various WiiMs.
