Normal and expert Mode

I use my system together with my wife and we have totally different opinions about the systems. My wife just wants to play her music and is not the slightest bit interested in system configuration and parameter settings (that's why she married me - so I could to this stuff. ;-)).

It would be much easier for the users, if it is possible to switch in in the App between some kind of "expert mode" and "normal mode". In normal mode all kinds of options for system parameters and sound optimizing should be just not shown. The typical user just could play music. The possible "expert mode" will show the app exactly as it is.

What Do you think about that?

I'd like to see something like this. In my case, the distinction I would prefer is between a read-only/play-only mode, and the current behaviour.

i.e. family members known for accidentally fiddling with settings would use a view/mode where they could only select material to play, but not change settings, etc.

If you are talking about the WiiM Home App then I think the "favorite" page can be used or is that also too complicated?

What I think is missing in your case is a multi user interface where you can define not only different service users but also what to be available by default in the App.

You can raise a ticket to WiiM for a feature request.

Personally I don’t think it is needed.
In my case I do not interact with the WiiM App if I only play music. Iuse then the Spotify or Lyric/Squeezebox/iPeng App…
And if you are in the WiiM App you only are in Favorite tabber…

I have a normal user and an expert in my household.

The normal user likes to listen to radio in the Kitchen mainly. The expert uses players all round the house frequently synced together.

The normal user activates her choice of music via an Echo Show in the kitchen which has a WiiM Pro as its nominated speaker for Alexa cast. Said WiiM is hidden in a cupboard and connected to a small Topping Amp that has auto switching on its digital inputs. The amp feeds B&W in ceiling speakers. The normal user doesn’t know anything about the WiiM App or that it even exists. She just tells Alexa to play Radio 2 or whatever and this is played from the B&W speakers.

When the expert wants to play something in the Kitchen whether synced or not, he pulls out his phone and chooses something from LMS. This then switches the WiiM Pro accordingly. The switching between modes is seamless.

This works for both us. Unfortunately I am still told my stuff is “too loud”.

One of my normal users seems currently happy using Spotify Connect, and as yet hasn't requested fuller access to the WiiM, so perhaps I don't have an issue after all :)
