They are pretty responsive and I would think they would look into this issue, especially as @Burnside has raised it too.How is WiiM typically when responding to tickets? Should I just return the mini ?
It's a software issue, so if you need the WiiM Mini just keep it and @WiiM Team will eventually try to fix it.How is WiiM typically when responding to tickets? Should I just return the mini ?
Yeah, responding to a ticket and supplying a fix are two different thingsIt's a software issue, so if you need the WiiM Mini just keep it and @WiiM Team will eventually try to fix it.
I use optical out from a Belkin Soundform connect to optical in on my Ultra. Works great for airplayI just ordered a mini. What is the best way to connect it to the ultra for optimum sound quality? I’m using this as a solution for lack of Apple Airplay.
Do you have artwork from Apple Music on your AirPlay with this setup ?I use optical out from a Belkin Soundform connect to optical in on my Ultra. Works great for airplay
WiiM support just contacted me. They told me that the AirPlay from the mini is essentially audio only and that there is no additional meta data coming over for the artwork. I guess the mini goes back.Yeah, responding to a ticket and supplying a fix are two different things
Which screen are you referring to ? I’m confused. They are pretty responsive and I would think they would look into this issue, especially as @Burnside has raised it too.
How long might it take to get a fix? No idea.
If not having the artwork on the ultra's screen is a dealbreaker and you don't want to / can't wait for a potential fix then probably yes, return it.
But it's Airplay, so the streaming device has to be on, right? Use that screen instead...![]()
That is strange, as you get the first cover art and the Meta data for the track.WiiM support just contacted me. They told me that the AirPlay from the mini is essentially audio only and that there is no additional meta data coming over for the artwork. I guess the mini goes back.
As I posted earlier, the Ultra does receive the cover art for the first track but that doesn’t change on subsequent tracks. The app shows the cover art as the track changes as expected. That is strange, as you get the first cover art and the Meta data for the track.
Not sure @WiiM Support understand the issue.
Is this so important for you that you will return the WiiM?
You never answered about what you see in the WiiM Home App (the screen).
The home app shows the correct artwork. That is strange, as you get the first cover art and the Meta data for the track.

Good. So the response from @WiiM Support is highly inaccurate. As I posted earlier, the Ultra does receive the cover art for the first track but that doesn’t change on subsequent tracks. The app shows the cover art as the track changes as expected.
I’ll see what response I get to my ticket
I’d give WiiM a chance to rectify it. I’m awaiting a response to my ticket where I reported the same, and as said above, the response you received doesn’t make sense as the Ultra clearly gets the artwork for the first track, it just doesn’t update it for subsequent tracks even though the track details change. The home app shows the correct artwork.
As far as the returning of the mini. I purchased my ultra about a week ago, I bought the mini for this specific purpose. If it doesn’t work, I’m not sure what use I would have for the mini.
No. SorryDo you have artwork from Apple Music on your AirPlay with this setup ?
Sounds like they thought it was physically attached to the Ultra in which case it probably wouldn’t transfer the artwork at all.Good. So the response from @WiiM Support is highly inaccurate.
This is a software bug in the AirPlay implementation in connection with LinkPlay. I don't think many are using it in this way or they don't care, as this is first time this is reported.
I was only saying that with the information from the call. I’m willing to see if they fix it.As I posted earlier, the Ultra does receive the cover art for the first track but that doesn’t change on subsequent tracks. The app shows the cover art as the track changes as expected.

As I wait for a fix for this. Does anyone know an alternative that I can rip my cds with their artwork and have them play on the ultra without a streaming service with the artwork on the display?Tried it with Amazon Music casting to the Mini grouped with the Ultra and no issue, the artwork changed. Also set up a Chromecast group with the Pro and the Ultra, and it changed artwork ok. Similarly played Qobuz to the group from within the WiiM home app and the artwork changed on the Ultra screen.
So as far as I can see it’s not a Mini issue nor an issue for all services when grouped with an Ultra, just when Airplay is involved.
Edit: ticket updated with this info
There are many options depending on where you’ve ripped them to. Where are the rips and what did you use to rip the CDs?As I wait for a fix for this.
