Question about Airplay support for WiiM Ultra by WiiM mini

I created a folder on my external hard drive connected to my Mac. Dragged that folder into the home desktop app. When the cd rips it creates the appropriate folders. Artist/ album / files. On the home desktop app everything appears correctly. However on the phone app nothing looks right. When I click albums. Nothing shows up. When I click all music everything shows up.
You're looking at two different repositories when you use the two different apps - the phone WiiM Home app knows nothing about tracks the desktop app is pointing to. Each app displays its own local music files when you select My Music/My Library, so I guess what you're seeing on your phone is what you have stored there, perhaps under Apple Music.

If you want to access the files on your Mac/external drive from your phone , then install something like Minimserver on your Mac and point it to your external drive music repository, and then you'll be able to use that under Home Music Share on the phone.

I have attached the one CD I have ripped so far on my Mac. The landscape screen shots are from my desktop app and the portrait screenshots are from my phone. Notice on my phone when I click "album" only one ripped song shows and it shows twice, but when I click all music all the songs from the album show.

If you're showing screenshots from "My Music" on your phone, do you have iCloud sync or similar going on in the background so your phone Apple Music reflects what's in your Mac library? I can't think of how the tracks appear under My Music on the phone unless there's some sort of copy/sync going on.

No - no iCloud back up to an external hard drive. I’m clicking the icon under media server on my phone WiiM app (file attached).

Thanks for that, and thanks for prompting my old brain into action. I had forgotten that the desktop app creates a upnp media server, but I'm having difficulty accessing mine on my Windows PC at the moment.

Until I get to the bottom of it, could you try installing Minimserver in the interim and see if that helps? The free version should be sufficient for your needs

Yes I can give mimimserver a try

Hi, I updated my desktop beta WiiM Home app (I hadn't used it for ages), and I now see the WiiM Home entry under Home Music Share and it works exactly as it should, showing what my desktop app has in its library under all the categories required. I guess you're on the latest Mac beta app since you've just downloaded it so it's strange your phone app is misbehaving - are you on its latest version?

Could you try using the mConnect(lite) app on your phone and see what it sees on that WiiM Home:Mac-Mini.local server? That might give us a clue as to whether the WiiM Home phone app is where the issue lies.

Thought.
If mConnect shows correct info does the WHA phone app cache server data and only update after an app restart?

@buitbyty - did you eventually work out my points 2-4. If not, shout and I will screenshot into a private message.

Screenshots would be helpful just to ensure I did everything properly.

Don't know but an app reboot (kill task on ios and restart) will do no harm
I did try to exit and reopen the app. I can try restarting the phone as well. I would prefer to use the WiiM app. I downloaded mconnect I can’t stand the site of ads in an app.

mConnect is merely a test to see if it sees the content of the desktop server correctly, not for long term use. If it works and the WiiM Home mobile app doesn't, that's useful troubleshooting info

This is what I see in mconnect but when I click the folders they are not opening.

Yeah, that’s what I’m experiencing too :( but not with the local libraries I have on usb drives connected to my WiiM Ultra and WiiM Amp. Must be something different with WiiM’s setup on their desktop services. If I get time, I’ll bug report this. However, I can browse it ok if I use the Bubbleupnp app on Android. Strange…

I think Minimserver is looking like the best bet at the moment…

This is sort of working.
If I open the Phone app, choose Home Music Share then the Media server and click Album, All Music, Artist or Genre it shows me stuff that is physically on my phone but if I click Folder (after a Rescan on the Desktop app) I can properly see and play what is on the Windows PC app but with no metadata or cover art in the playing window.
Not good enough WiiM

yes there is I just clicked it and now everything is working popular! This was the problem. I would have never solved this without you. Thank you.

I do have a question. Is there a way to set the artist image on the artist page? See attached screenshot.
