RCA ports a bit fragile?

Hi,

So my cables are pretty hard to fit and a have to use a little force on the Ultra to get them to stay put. Yesterday I took one of the cables out and could se that one of the ports was draged out just a little, I had to push it back in with my finger. Do you thinks it is alright as long as it sounds fine?

I'm no cable freak and these are nothing fancy for thousands of dollars, but a bit över average for sure. Since I got the same brand on all my cables I would rather not spend a lot of money to change them all now. Any ideas for good cables that don't cost a lot of money but that actually fits the Ultra a little better? Or could I use some kind of extension?

I live in Sweden and we have amazon.se here.

Se picture of the tightly fitted cables. As you can see one is sticking out a bit and I dont want to use more force.

Any ideas for solutions that don't cost a lot of money and that wont affect SQ.

Do these cables release their grip if you unscrew the covers from the shank slightly?as they look similar to ones I have
Try looking up locking rca connectors

No, I can screw them apart that way but the grip is the same. Don't really know the point of it really.

I guess if I use other connectors/extension I might as well just change the cables altogether. Just feels like a waste really.

The provided cables work well, or find alternative cables with less bulk, Mogami Pure Patch for example. There are many options out there and it’s fun looking.

Thanks! I need one more though since there is only 1 supplied RCA. There is something about mixing and matching to much that makes me nervous even though I'm not really a believer in cables🤣

Are those same cables hard to seat fully on other gear that don't have recessed jacks?
If it's that the recess is too small for the cables' girth then you could gently grind away some of the casing, covering all other ports first obviously.
Yes, you might well affect your warranty, resale etc.

I had the same thought as Ronnie D - if it's pulling on the rca jack itself it implies a gripping comnection.
I have these on my speaker banana plugs; not got them on rcas myself.
Or are you perhaps 'wiggling' the plug to get it to engage / remove due to the tight fit?

There are many options, I only mention these because of the molded plugs which would fit the WiiM well, they are professional grade, etc. I used an older version for years and really liked the quality and slinky feel. The mix and match issue is aesthetics but I’m the same way! Our emotional comfort with these types of choices is important, it’s a hobby after all. I’d caution against spending too much.

I actually just ordered som Amazon basics and will try to sell my more audiophile-like cables. Yes, thats how tired I am of snake oil...

It would be nice if Wiim surface mounted the RCA Jack's like normal equipment. They surely could use a more secure feel.
Agree. Has anyone seen any comment from WiiM explaining why they have these recessed jacks? Dont see that on any other equipment..

My Audiolab amp has PCB mounted RCA connectors but they aren't recessed. They do fall apart after a while though. It is probably the most common issue with original Audiolabs ☹️

Anyone else that has actually caused one of them to almost pop out when trying to get the cables out? Still worried something is damaged and that it will break completely. I was not even trying that hard. So consider this a real warning using any kind of grip of death "quality' (aka known as solution to a problem that never was) RCAs.

Hi, I didn´t pop out any plugs, but also found the receded back plugs to be very limiting of the cables you can use. In my search for alternatives to the stock ones, I found these: https://tinyurl.com/ytrfhass
They are not the best quality cables on the market, but are very nice and most important fit perfect on wiims back plugs.
Hope it helps

ps: regardind de pop out plugs, maybe you should contact wiim about it.

So now I just hope they will fit since they seem a bit clunky...
In the first photo are some Rean Neutrik RCAs on Mogami cable. The second picture is of a Radio Shack cable. From looking at a picture of the Amazon Basics…they don’t appear to be larger than the Radio Shack ones. My experience with Premium Monoprice RCAs with turbine type plugs is that they detach best if you twist them while pulling, rather than just pulling straight out. Good luck!
