I use a Pro Plus and am confused with RoomFit opposed to EQ. How do I use this, set them up? I have been using EQ but it sounds muffled, mids and highs aren't good.
What seems to work fairly well in many cases (and is relatively physically inobtrusive) is to push the speakers close to the wall behind them (but keep about 5cm of gap to the wall if speakers have a bass-reflex port in the back), and to put the subwoofer in a room corner. Of course it may not work in every room and every layout, but it is...I think you are both right. I also think this makes room correction pretty much pointless for users that dont have the knowledge about these things like you guys have. I just look at all the settings and get more and more confused the more I try![]()
It would likely be better to run roomfit / save the profile per position.Apologies if this is a dumb question. I'm planning to give roomfit a go this weekend on my amp ultra. My issue is I use two different speaker positions, one for 'casual listening' with the speakers next to the TV unit and closer to back wall, and one for 'serious listening', with the speakers pulled out into the room. I'm assuming if I did roomfit calibration for one position, it wouldn't work for the other?
I did find that using an external mic (dayton, in my case) improved roomfit accuracyThat's what I was thinking. Thanks. I have an old Android phone (Samsung a53 5G) so presume I'd need to get a usb mic for any kind of accurate measurement?

Thanks. Is the Dayton mic about the cheapest decent usb mic to use for getting a reliable outcome for roomfit? I don't want to get one of those umik ones as they're $200 here and I'm not paying that.I did find that using an external mic (dayton, in my case) improved roomfit accuracy
Can you elaborate on this, or is it just a joke? You also might find that after running Roomfit with speakers near the wall you don't feel the need to move them forward for serious listening![]()
Not a joke at all. Having the speaker close to the wall changes the Speaker Boundary Interference Response. Room correction takes care of the bass boost caused by the proximity of the wall. Try RoomFit in both positions and see how they compareCan you elaborate on this, or is it just a joke?
I'll give it a try. Is there a specific distance recommended? Asking 'cos my speakers (KEF LS50 meta) are already about 20 cm from the wallNot a joke at all. Some say as close as possible. Try different distances and see how it sounds.I'll give it a try. Is there a specific distance recommended? Asking 'cos my speakers (KEF LS50 meta) are already about 20 cm from the wall
Short answer: push them as far back to the wall as possible, just leave about 5cm clearance for the back port to work correctly.I'll give it a try. Is there a specific distance recommended? Asking 'cos my speakers (KEF LS50 meta) are already about 20 cm from the wall
If you don't turn RoomFit on, it's exactly as before.seit RoomFit Things have become more complicated and the sound has deteriorated considerably, unfortunately....![]()
While it is true RoomFit has become more complicated and I appreciate how that can turn many people away from it, it has also become much more flexible and useful across a wider range of environments. It is now possible to get better sound with RoomFit in cases where before this was not possible.seit RoomFit Things have become more complicated and the sound has deteriorated considerably, unfortunately....![]()
