It would be useful if he contacted WiiM with his device logs, but I look forward to his video when you resolve it. Maybe by then, he’ll get the name right. And WiiM, not WeemHi! Thanks for flagging, we'll have the team check it out and see what might be going on here. He keeps "WiiM Ultra Pro" in the video, the title says "WiiM Pro Plus" though so I think that's what he's referencing.
What did he say about channel separation of the Amp?So, it appears YouTuber Scientific Audiophile has found channel separation issues with the WiiM Amp and now some background noise with the WiiM Pro Plus.
However, if you use an external DAC you don’t have anything to worry about.
Isn’t it the line out that has several levels? The Pro plus manual states the line input is 1vrmsIt sounds like he is overdriving the Line input. WiiM offers several Line input sensitivity settings.
Yeah, I shared the video with the team to check it out, but there isn't a lot of information in it, so I'm not sure what they'll be able to find. Hopefully he can contact us to share more feedback. If this were a wider problem, most likely it would have come up already, but I'll let you know what I hear.It would be useful if he contacted WiiM with his device logs, but I look forward to his video when you resolve it. In one of the comments for the Amp review he said he only has a 4 ohm resistor, a Voltmeter and an Ammeter.from someone who calls himself a “scientific audiophile“ i was expecting at least some basic data and measurements.
You are correct. I confused the two as i use neither. Maybe Volume Limiting?Isn’t it the line out that has several levels? The Pro plus manual states the line input is 1vrms
Or maybe as you suggest, he’s overloading that 1vrms?You are correct. I confused the two as i use neither. Maybe Volume Limiting?
I have some sympathy with that view - more interested in getting a video published than even getting the product name correct. Borderline clickbait…Typically, when a reviewer finds a significant problem with a product he contacts the company to discuss the issue before publishing the review, just to check that their is not a problem with the unit or with the methodology. This guy did not grant Wiim that courtesy. Who knows, he may be right. But, he also did even get the name of the product correct. He seems like a bit of an amateur.
He did a separate review video for the WiiM amp. What did he say about channel separation of the Amp?
Possible? Yes. Likely? No, not at all. As @cc_rider pointed out correctly, there is absolutely nothing scientific about this dude. The SA makes Robinson look like a half decent expert, which is ridiculous. By comparison with the SA, the cheap Porsche driving audio man appears to be a person of integrity, which is equally ridiculous.Who knows, he may be right.
So what did that say about channel separation? He did a separate review video for the WiiM amp.
He did it on the same YT channel, no channel separation. So what did that say about channel separation?
Seemingly he’s “sent an email to his contact” and has contacted WiiM to ask for another unit - and an Ultra. I’m bemused why people don’t follow the advice of submitting a ticket so you can inspect the logs, but hey, if he gets another freebie than all’s good on his end…Yeah, I shared the video with the team to check it out, but there isn't a lot of information in it, so I'm not sure what they'll be able to find.
