Something Big is Coming to WiiM Home

Thanks.

So it will require navigation on the TV screen.
It would appear so. I see it much along the lines of the excellent display projects posted on the forum by @cc_rider et al, or the use of the RNP plugin on Lyrion/LMS - it’s a means of displaying WiiM streams on the same network on a separately controlled display.

WiiM have said they’ll be extending the functionality, but I don’t know if they would go or want to go the full hog and have this as a full version of the mobile apps. We’d only get illogical complaints like “does this mean I need my tv on to control my WiiM device” 😉🤣

It’s working now for me after the update! This is quite nice. I think for me, the biggest improvement would be if it showed the current track progress bar on the TV. As I sometimes have highly variable volume between tracks in my playlists, it’s good to know if the track will end soon as I like to turn volume back down before it ends so that the next track, it a lot louder, isn’t startling (I like to play with shuffle on, so the next track is not known until it starts).

And if you have a spare Raspberry Pi (or anything capable of running Node.js) lying around, I will just shamelessly plug my solution: https://github.com/cvdlinden/wiim-now-playing 😇

On topic: Good to see WiiM jumping on the "I want to see what is playing on a TV display" request that's been going around for months or longer. E.g. https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/tv-display.4708/

Don't you like Replaygain?

Last time (was a while ago, admittedly) I tried it and it didn’t work/do anything. Perhaps because I’m using Qobuz?

Hi Ed,

Replay Gain is now supported for Qobuz, including both album-level and track-level adjustments.

Feel free to give it a try, and if you run into any issues, please submit a support ticket—we’re happy to help. Thank you!

I think Qobuz only has track level

Hi Wiimer, Team

Google TV is definitely on the horizon. Regarding the FireTV stick, our team is still evaluating the feasibility. Thank you for your patience and support!

Hi WiiM, support for Fire TV Stick is a must.

These devices account for over a third of the market, so it's not a trivial number.
