sound degradation

When I first noticed this "phenomenon," I first reset the Ultra and then listened to the original CD for comparison. The difference was enormous. The next time, everything was fine again.

This doesn't happen every day, of course, but it's happening more and more often.

Nothing has been changed in the setup.

It certainly seems strange to me. Especially since the Ultra had been working perfectly up until now. But after one of the last updates, this started happening. Could it be Amazon's fault?

Another person in this thread uses tidal and noted the same thing. By reset did you mean reboot or factory reset? if factory reset, that would remove all the updates which would eventually be reinstalled.

There have already been issues with these functions... Have you checked what's happening with the upsampling or downsampling functions in Wiim Home... according to the resolutions offered by Amazon?

Unfortunately, I'm a bit overwhelmed by this. I just want to listen to music properly without having to constantly check or adjust anything

Keep in mind that a factory reset won't restore any manual settings adjustments that were previously in place.

I'm sorry for posting here. I've noticed that more and more people are ridiculing something if it doesn't suit them. Apparently, speaking objectively about a topic isn't something everyone can do.

Where does the assumption come from that it doesn't suit me? It was just a little joke that I couldn't resist. A little looseness can only do us all good 😉

Absolutely right but I'd like the looseness to come with a little general preface (eg. «im just joking and everyone is free to try, listen and do whatever they want» or something like that) just to remove the risk of "unpleasant misunderstanding" (higher truths and so on..)😉

Clearly this is what I'd like to see generally, sorry if it wasn't clear that I wasn't referring to this "last case of looseness" 🙂

as recommended by wiim, i did a factory reset. That didn't fix the problem. As updates were automatically applied I expect that the issue was in the last 1 or 2 updates. Wiim promised that they would roll back my device if there was no improvement however this would mean that I couldn't apply any future updates unless they fixed the issue, which i encouraged them to do.

Hi Canard. What are the resolutions offered by Amazon? Have you tried them and if so did they work?

Amazon Music Unlimited offers from 16/44.1 to 24/192. They refer to their 16bit tracks as HD and the 24bit ones as UHD. All are supported bit perfect on every WiiM device.

Post in thread 'Really bad resampling of 44.1kHz/16bits files with Fixed Resoultion SPDIF setting' https://forum.wiimhome.com/threads/...xed-resoultion-spdif-setting.6234/post-105671

Problems can happen, and I was referring to this old, serious case (which had normally been fixed). I was referring to the "fixed" case, etc. (have you engaged it?)

In other cases, if a pregain is heavily engaged, the DRC may be more strongly present, etc.
You need to check all settings that could affect the levels and impact the DRC, etc.
