Spotify connect issue

I've recently been experiencing an issue with spotify whereby my two wiim devices are defaulting to google cast rather than spotify connect (see attached). I don't have google cast enabled in the app for either device and have never intentionally used this connection option previously. The only workaround Ive found so far is to quit both apps and then turn wifi off and back on (sometimes need to do this twice) to get the spotify connect option to show and work again. Anyone else experienced this or have advice on how to fix it?

This is a known issue affecting some smartphones. After enabling Google Cast in the WiiM app, then please turn off "Allow Google Cast services." It might seem strange, but this should resolve the issue.

Browse > Voice and Streaming / Google Cast icon > [Your WiiM device name] > Allow Google Cast services

No, Google Cast will no longer be available.

Ah ok, so not really a solution unfortunately. But yes, obviously, disabling it completely will prevent the Spotify app from using it as well.

Since Spotify made the change (deliberately, as they say) to no longer offer Spotify Connect on devices, which support Google Cast, only Spotify could provide a real solution.

Seems like NAD found a workaround for this, by 'advertising' different names for the Chromecast instance and the Spotify Connect instance.

It would be totally fine if Spotify over Chromecast supported CD quality/high-resolution...
