Dear all,

first post and I´m afraid I need your expertise.

Before I describe my problem I`ll share my setup.

Ultra => [line out] E3 Audio A7 => KEF R3
Ultra => [sub out ]=> [LFE] SVS SB 1000 Pro
Ultra => [HDMI Arc] Samsung TV (will be controlled by the "Nvidia Shield Pro" remote as Shield is connected to the TV)

Volume at the A7 is set to "bypass".

Yesterday I performed a RoomFit measurement with Manual Delay Adjustment ("Main speakers" set to 11ms) and the following settings (most of the settings are based on the recommendations I have found in this forum):
  • Audio Settings:
    • Fixed Volume output: off
    • Line Out Level: 2 Arms
    • Volume Limit: 85%
    • Fade-In & Fade-Out Effects: on
  • Subwoofer settings:
    • Sub Out: on
    • Level: 0db
    • Volume in SVS App: -20db
    • Crossover Frequency: 80Hz
    • Phase: 0
    • Main Speaker Output Latency: 11ms
    • Subwoofer bypass Mode: off
    • Main Speakers Output Bass: off
  • Room Fit settings:
    • Target Curve: B&K
    • Frequency: 20Hz-300Hz
    • Max Gain: +12dB
    • Min Gain: -12dB
    • Max Q: 10
    • Non-Boost Mode: on
    • Build-in Mic Compensation: on
    • Subwoofer Calibration: on
    • Moving Mic Measurement: off
    • Smoothing: 1/12 Octave
    • Multiple Measurements: off

For the measurement I used my iPad mini (2021). Here are the results:

IMG_0020.jpegIMG_0021.jpegIMG_0022.jpegIMG_0023.PNGIMG_0024.PNGIMG_0025.jpegIMG_0027.jpegIMG_0028.PNGIMG_0029.PNGIMG_0030.PNG

Not sure but I assume the curve between 20-33Hz doesn´t look right. Hence I wanted to give the "Automatic sync" a try before I ran another RoomFit attempt. But after disabling RoomFit and starting the "automatic sync" process no final measurement values were shown:

IMG_9707.PNG
I tried again with various volume settings at the Ultra (50, 55), changed the Crossover Frequency to 90Hz and retested the Automatic sync (also with my iPhone 12mini ......error screenshot is btw from the iPhone).
Sounds are audible (and definitely loud enough) but unfortunately not with an happy ending.... error message was still shown in all further attempts.

Hence I´m not sure what do (switching off/on the sub was not successful).
I haven´t tried switching off/on the Ultra and the A7 yet.

FW is the latest from Dec 18,2025; iPhone/iPad app is also up to date.

Any feedback would really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

Do you feel the subwoofer and main speaker volumes are balanced at present?

Assuming the iPad's built-in microphone is picking up low frequencies,
Based on the results, it appears the subwoofer volume is insufficient. In the WiiM app's subwoofer settings screen, increase the sub volume by 5dB to 10dB, then run RoomFit for each speaker.

Thanks for your swift response, much appreciated.

I´m not sure how I can run Room Fit for each speaker.
For "KEFs only" ...ok... I would disable "Sub out" and run RoomFit.

But how can I run RoomFit just with the Sub (w/o the KEFs)? Or did I misunderstand you?

First, please try running RoomFit again with the subwoofer level set to +5dB, using the original settings you posted. If you still get an error, try changing it to +10dB and running RoomFit again.

I'd appreciate it if you could let us know the results.

From the screenshots is seems you have a notch around 80Hz, which suggests an issue with either subwoofer phase, or with speaker delay setting.

In this post I provided advice to a different member with an SVS sub on how to improve integration - it might help you as well.

I'd first try to invert polarity (180° switch in the WiiM Home App subwoofer menu) and then re-run RoomFit to see if you can improve this notch:

But you are right the bass rolls of much too early in your measurement, considering your sub. It almost looks as if the sub isn't active at all, since KEF R3 play down to 40Hz anyway.
I have the older SVS SB-1000 (Classic, nor Pro) and I easily get response down to 20Hz in my room (this is with an 80Hz crossover on a WiiM Amp Ultra to Revel M16 speakers):

Can you double-check if your sub is actually producing sound while you measure the response with RoomFit?

I'd appreciate it if you could let us know the results.
Just to be clear: the error will only occur if I run the „Start Automatic Sync“ option within the Subwoofer & Speakers Sync settings.
There is no error message when i run a RoomFit Session.

RoomFit with your proposed sub levels look like:

Boooahhhh..... @Wiimer / @dominikz: great that we talked about it ;-)

Problem was on my side because the trigger cable wasn´t connected anymore at the Ultra 🤬

Now connected there is a different situation (and sound is coming out of the sub, too 🤭 ):

Automatic Sync works:
IMG_0052.PNG

But i used the manual value of 11ms.

With that done i performed new RoomFit measurements with the settings from above.

i) 0 degree Phase:

At the moment Automatic sync only works properly when the WiiM is at your listening position. Soon BassFit will be available which hopefully will work correctly.

OK..then the value i used for manual setting should be fine, right?
Possibly. How did you decide on that? I used to use a value of around 6ms but then changed to just setting the phase to 180. My sub doesn't have any DSP though. I don't know if yours does.
You can play a tone at the crossover frequency and adjust the delay to achieve the highest volume.

Great that you resolved the issue with no bass!

First let me say great work with all the research you did in advance of posting, and for being willing to dive into the (IMHO very rewarding, if a bit complex) topic of subwoofer integration and room correction!

Next I need to ask whether you optimized speaker and sub placement already? This is really crucial to get right for optimal results. My go-to proposal for placement in a 2.1 system with 80Hz crossover and room correction EQ is:
  1. Option 1 (best): Speakers more than 1.1m away from both the wall behind them and to the side. Subwoofer tucked in a room corner.
  2. Option 2 (good): Speakers right against the wall behind them but more than 1.1m away from the wall to the side. Subwoofer tucked in a room corner.
Regarding polarity, it might make sense to re-run RoomFit at 0° and 180° subwoofer phase, but with speaker/sub delays reset to 0ms initially.
That should tell us which polarity/phase setting gets us closer to good alignment without any delay configuration, so that we can fine-tune it by setting minimal loudspeaker delay later.

Hmmm..I should follow @dominikz"s advice as mentioned in this post.
Since my sub is 54cm behind the main speaker I´ll should re-run RoomFit with a manual delay of 8ms (sub is with DSP).
Which of the 3 options presented in that post did you use to determine the delay value; was it option 3?

If so, did you iterate a few delay values until you found the one with the most energy around the crossover frequency when running RoomFit?

If your sub is 54cm behind your speakers then 8ms delay on the loudspeaker is a reasonable starting point and a good guess with a SVS DSP-enabled sub, but I'd still suggest to measure the response with a few ms higher and lower delays (e.g. 5ms, 6ms, 7ms... and all the way up to 11ms). Out of the values you tested choose the delay value which results in the highest level (and no notch) at 80Hz.

Thanks for your further explanations/proposals!

Placing the speakers and sub somewhere is a bit tricky and - most likely - not an option.
I´ll share a pic in the next days and explain it a bit more...I´m in hurry right now but want to share two further measurements I did a couple of hours ago. Both were with 8ms delay (other settings as mentioned in post #1).

First run is with 0 degree phase:

IMG_0067.PNGIMG_0068.PNGIMG_0069.PNGIMG_0070.PNGIMG_0071.PNGIMG_0072.PNGIMG_0073.PNG

Second run with 180 degree phase:

Thanks so far.
