The competition doesn't sleep

No PEQ and no plan for PEQ in the Nano? I was thinking about taking it for tests but my current conditions don't let me do that so I postponed it. For private use and my headphones setup the PEQ is mandatory.
A big mistake from bluesound If thats the case.

if the use of rc-peq etc is a delicate sport...for headphones with what is available as proposals for dedicated peq, it is damn interesting (except to consider the "harman" approach)
(hpn? heq? ;-) )

;-)

Yes it is… The PEQ also have the shelving function thats very useful If one have bright or dull sounding speakers. And the dsp in the pro and ultra are very transparent in the sound.

I have own Harman approved gear with loudspeakers and I dont like it because you always listen to two stereo speakers in a room - i.e. the stereo speakers shall not measure flat as a mono speaker should. One of the flaws of ASR .

Listening to stereo speakers, at 1.7 kHz they should have +1.5 dB , Q=3 and at 3.5 kHz - 1 dB , Q=3 . The stereo image this way will be holografic and totaly free from the speakers.

This is easy to do with the PEQ function in the Ultra.

I was really surprised the other week when I all of a sudden could do room correction using my Android phone, with my Wiim Pro.
Cudos to the Wiim team for all the nice features that have been added since I bought my Wiim Pro a couple of years ago. First they added PEQ and now they have added Room Correction (using PEQ). Those are the two major things I can think of but I am sure there are more and more will probably come.

Now I wish they just released a Wiim Pro version with a USB out. Just take the exakt same product and add a USB output.
You can raise the price 20 bucks, that's OK ;-)

That is way too expensive for a Chinese cd transport. However this new launch a few days ago is much more appealing and affordable:

Shanling seems to be a big player in the CD world. They have some real high end players retailing around 20.000 USD. They do it for decades. So, it's not just a "Chinese CD transport". Besides that, it's more of a "digital transport", since it has DLNA and other, basic, streaming capabilities. And it's sexy (top loader). Yes, it's not cheap (though you can get it for 630 USD) You asked and that is the only transport I know of from a company, that might play in the required league.

I get it, however $700+ for a cd player is way too much for most of us, besides, if we are already WiiM owners what we need in a Cd player is to play cds well, and maybe have a remote.. nothing else.. there are probably some "premium audiophiles" who are willing to spend thousands on a player, and that is a very small market and definitely not the purpose of this community.

The CR60 mentioned above (of the same brand) is much more affordable and appealing and is something that would match perfectly with a WiiM Amp, which is what I´m looking for.

Such an opportunity for WiiM to launch its own CD player Transport, easily undercutting competition prices and easily outperforming them. A wonderful addition to a WiiM setup.

What’s the point of playing CDs? It’s almost as fussy as Vinyl.

Convert to FLAC, put it in your library, and you have bit perfect music, plus matadata.

I'd prefer a desktop remote control. Taking this concept to our times:

Problem is, that the industry has no generic protocol, that would be compatible across manufacturers and they don't seem to care either.

All with AirPlay support.
I honestly don't understand the attraction for Airplay 2, unless streaming to an old original Airplay 1 device. Airplay 2 to Airplay 2 is always lossy 256 AAC stream. Plus, your iPhone, iPad etc. is always doing the work....not acting as a remote.

Maybe you don’t understand it, but a lot of people, myself included, find it very useful.

Not everyone listens to hi res services only and not all services are supported by the WiiM Home app, so it makes sense that people have something like Airplay to fall back on to send the audio from their device to their WiiM/stereo. Services like YouTube, radio and other music apps spring to mind.

In my case, most of my AirPlay usage is for background music, and in particular to multiple devices and speakers in different rooms, and floors in the house. One recent use involved my WiiM Amp in one ground floor room, a RIVA Arena speaker in the ground floor hallway, another RIVA Arena on the first floor landing, and another RIVA Arena in a second floor room. All played without any issues, and as far as I could determine, they all seemed to be synchronised as I walked from room to room.

I was hoping to be able to do this sort of thing using the WiiM DLNA Casting feature, but can't do it with the current beta version.

Edit: For those not familiar with RIVA, here are the Amazon links for RIVA Arena, and RIVA Festival speakers. These are the ones that I would like to use with WiiM DLNA Casting.

Maybe WiiM will answer the Bluesound Nano by adding USB in to the next Pro Plus. The ability to attach a SSD drive would get me to upgrade to one.
