There are almost no compact 5.1 receivers - Wiim should make one.

I know the current devices can do 5.1 but it's a bit of a hack and a lot of people would prefer to have it all hard wired into a single device.

We have a slimline 5.1 receiver from Integra - it's a good 7 years old now and there just are not very many devices on the market that offer a simple 5.1 configuration.

If you allow multi channel through USB, you could cater to both home theater and PC surround sound gaming.

Actually, there's never been a real market for slimline AVRs. Slimline always meant shorter height, nothing else. There's never been a single small footprint AVR. I know, because - like you - I've been searching. Not so much for HT use but just to find a reasonably small device to offer room correction. After playing around with the old and limited Pioneer receivers for a while, the WiiM Amp meant an end to this search for me.

Right now, the overall AVR market has faced quite a massive shrink. I don't see any real demand for the kind of device you are asking for.
