This time Wiim really let me down

"Promised? Was that a promise to add the feature as you asked or to look into it?"
Perhaps by using “promised,” I used the wrong word. More than a promise it was a given that they would soon add new Meters by following up on numerous user requests for this addition.
If you search and read the various Community posts about Meters, you will see that WiiM has always responded to the numerous requests for new ones.
"We are studying new meters and will soon make them available. Stay tuned".
It seems to me that responses of this type are not so much a promise, but a fact that they were working to implement them in a fairly rapid time frame.
In all honesty I have no interest in the Topping D70 or the fact that it has a "VuMeter". It's a feature of no value to me as what purpose would it serve other than being a visual aesthetic.
I can understand that you are not interested and I respect your opinion, but we are not all the same and for every 10 users who are not interested there are 10 who are interested.
For example, things like Smart Presets, Grouping devices and things like that are of no interest at all for me. I use WiiMs as pure streamers connected to my HiFi system so no Multi Rooms etc.
The only extra function that I'm interested in is ARC.
However, this does not mean that I give a thumbs down to the fact that they have implemented functions that concern the topics I described above. I am happy for the users who use them. Sic et simpliciter
The only thing that bothers me about new features is the impression I get that previous features get forgotten about. New flavour of the month seems to be a WiiM 5.1 system. Whatever happened to adding calibration files for room correction and other improvements like L/R channel room correction with subwoofer? Nothing appears to get finished.

And there is many outstanding bugs also. I surely hope @WiiM Team have the resources to handle all and priorities bug fixing over new features.

It is indeed strange that they suddenly introduce surround when not finishing the outstanding bugs and features first. Maybe it's multiple teams, not working on the same software track?

I would not be surprised if the team prioritizes features that are more likely to lead directly to sales. It is not their duty to add new features, and I believe that I need to go easy on them.
(Many of the issues and bugs occur with features that were added later for free.)

That said, I do understand the frustration of waiting with anticipation for a feature or fix that doesn't quite materialize...

one of the other ways to ask the question...
what about evolution progress debug of the whole wiim range..or just the use of small screen of the ultra alone?
;-)

I totally agree with @hgo58 and @slartibartfast. I much preferred the old style WiiM. Their first commitment was to fix the glitches, and 90% of the time they succeeded. Then came the new features. One at a time, over time, but these also worked 90% of the time.
One day they got caught up in a frenzy. They opened I don't know how many Beta Tests at the same time and the funny thing is that all traces of each of them have been lost. Are they finished? What stage are they at? Whoa!! 🤔 The last one is 5.1
But, as @slartibartfast says, what happened to the import of calibration files? Nobody knows.🤔 although since, in my opinion, the ARC is a bit of a strong point of WiiM and, thank God, it works, it should be at the top of their priorities.
Another thing that is often requested, always regarding ARC, is the addition of more filters, but this too is a dead letter.🤔
In House Curve, for example, I could use from 1 to 20 filters. Obviously I use 10 because WiiM doesn't go beyond that and I wouldn't know what to do with corrections beyond 10 filters because I couldn't copy them into WiiM's PEQ. However, if it were possible to use more filters, we would certainly have an even more precise EQ. Furthermore, HC allows smoothing even at 1/24 of an octave.
In conclusion, in my opinion, the right order of intervention, before adding more Beta Tests, should be:
1) Fix once and for all the various malfunctions, which in reality are not that few
2) Improve and complete functions that already work well. See ARC

ARC stands for Audio Return Channel.

The threads for finished beta programmes now clearly carry the Completed tag.

Yup, just like "Customer Service" replies the world over and they get paid for writing that BS. They don't even read the questions and think a reply like that is satisfactory. Then they move onto the next one and copy and paste the same thing 😡.
One of the thing I enjoy reading your post. Anyway, I think wiim should answer the general forum when they tag them even if their answer is something we don’t like instead being ignored. Implementing features takes time and resource especially if minority only wants it. Like any company they prioritize the majority over minority.

Well it seems that WiiM can't please you. You started this thread "WiiM really let me down" because they didn't enact a feature you requested. But in the above post you say "I much preferred the old style WiiM. Their first commitment was to fix the glitches, and 90% of the time they succeeded". So what would you prefer? The old WiiM or a new version that enacts new features no matter how popular those feature might be?

The down side of the new version is that glitches do not get fixed as timely as WiiM is too busy enacting new features that some might not even want or use. I'll take the "old" WiiM where glitches getting fixed takes priority over anything else.

They did 100s good one and one that did not get your wishes all of sudden you react to them and forgot the good ones. Typical human nature!

You should read more carefully. I was not complaining whether they had implemented a function or not. I was simply asking if and when they would do so.
What I was lamenting, and lamenting, is the stupidity and inconsistency of their response, which was completely out of tune. That is what I lament. It seemed they had never heard of what I was asking and gave me suggestions that had nothing to do with it.
If they had replied ‘We will never do it’ because of various problems, I would have accepted without complaining.

If anything your response is insulting to WiiM support. I doubt you have any idea how many WiiM staff to answer online inquiries. If you sent several inquiries maybe different staff responded. Who knows. But to say they are "stupid" is pretty low IMO.
