Variable and fixed output?

I see that you can set the output volume on an Ultra per source (I think). What I was wondering is if you can set whether the output could be set variable or fixed by source. I am guessing some here would suggest just setting the volume all the way up, but I want a setting to lock out changing it on the WiiM as would be that "fixed" setting

Example, if I want to play from WiFi or other streaming service, I would want variable output controlled by the WiiM Ultra. When I play from my piCorePlayer touchscreen I would like the Wiim Ultra to be 100% (fixed) and I would control the volume within the pCP system (screen, pCP IR remote, or Material Skin from a tablet or phone).

Is that possible?

Thanks!

Yes, one could, but 100% variable is the same as fixed, just that it can be altered later!
At least with variable you can change the volume (fairly) quickly if needed in multiple ways without having to get into the specific app screen to disable fixed.
(This isn't really aimed at you, Slarti, just replying to your comment.)
True but the OP wanted fixed and not just variable set to 100% 🙂

Yes, but I guess I'm asking why.
Why fixed vs 100% variable when variable is also wanted at other times.
If it's for 'bit perfect' then 100% is still that, and can already be achieved with presets.
If you always use the preset to switch between sources and don't touch the WiiM volume it would be exactly the same. I always used toset my Squeezebox Touch to 100% but never fixed volume. It was handy when the phone rang 🙂. It might even make more sense to set the piCorePlayer to 100% fixed volume and always control the volume from the WiiM. Then you can use EQ and a subwoofer.
