What do you think the future holds for digital music/audio ?

does seem crazy this 'trend' for vinyl and 'old skool' .. are we going forwards technically or backwards to authenticity

i have nearly bought this little system a few times .. it has been on sale for ever and in the small hifi reciever market there is not much choice in the mainstream UK stores, so despite the 'audiofool' capabilities of wiim this is an area I think the wiim amp ultra excels at, a small coffee table total hifi solution.
Typical found this now .. :ROFLMAO:

Ok, I'll confess. I still don't get the meaning of your posting.

Are you questioning an artist advertising bad old unusable and lacking physical media when modern digital media are available?

To me it looks like Al di Meola is quite happy with his signature turntable.

Here's mine plugged into a Roberts radio via Wiim mini in the dining room.

@r5yk5 .. do mind if i ask why the 'cassette'
Sure.

I got a subscription to this as a gift.

I'd got rid of all my cassettes years ago. But each month I get a new one from the subscription. So I started buying cassettes as physical media where available. It's surprising how many new releases you can get, especially from bandcamp, bundled with flacs for the same price.

I have a decent cassette deck on my main system and this in my kitchen on the fridge (another mini into the aux)

I like a good sound as much as anyone but I'm certainly no audiophile, I'm a music lover. A great sounding system can impress me. But no matter how many £££s I spend on amps, speakers and dacs; no high Res 24/192 digital file has ever blown my mind the way "Hunter and the Hunted" (Simple Minds) or "Like a Hurricane" (Neil Young) did when I heard them for the first time, as a teenager, on cassette.

All that said 19 times out of 20 I'll play digital files from my server coz I'm lazy :)

I only ever had one pre-recorded cassette in my collection back in the day which was a Christmas present 🙂.

Unfortunately not available in Germany 🙃

Yeah, I did enjoy that but maybe more from a personal POV given I did make mix tapes in my younger days. I did think the later life/ Australian angle jarred a bit. The younger actress reminded me of Mary Elisabeth Mastrantonio or Andy McDowell which perhaps slanted my view a bit ;) I think she also plays the relatively nondescript youngest sister in Bridgerton (I know, I know but my partner likes it) and it just shows what make-up etc can do…

The future of digital audio is less about “more songs” and more about smarter experiences.

AI will personalize mixes in real time, spatial audio will make headphones feel cinematic, and independent artists will use direct platforms to bypass old gatekeepers. Ownership models may shift too — subscriptions, micro-licensing, maybe even blockchain-based royalties (still a working theory, not destiny).

The real shift isn’t format. It’s control. Listeners get more personalization. Creators get more leverage. The platforms? They’ll fight to stay relevant in between.

@robert02 .. thats a lot to take in

1/ i would like 'personalisation' to be more accurate at the mo i tend to get 'similar bands' when what i want is 'similar music' say with a long saxaphone solo in it.
2/ I dont use headphones very often but something with multi speakers or real spacial capabilities would be interesting.
3/ the block chain thing has been threatened for many things, but as apple found out when they tried to lock your payed for itunes to your devices people said no and the rise of the 'pirate mp3' was the result.

theres a saying 'if you can hear it or see it, you can record it' .. we might go back to the 'old skool' cassette recorder mic in front of a speaker to avoid block chain restrictions. @r5yk5 is ahead of the game .. :D
