WiiM Amp Firmware v5.0.714744 Update - Apr 23, 2025

It has been my experience with all of my WiiM devices.
That’s great. In my experience I’m always prompted to download and install. At no point has my device ever auto updated a firmware release without me saying yes. So if auto update is ā€œnormalā€ behavior, then I don’t like it. I don’t want to argue over everyone’s experiences. They are clearly different.

Most devices have a flashing indicator light when there's a firmware update and I'm certain that the WiiM devices do too.
My smart power switch can't see that ;) It turns the power off every night to all AV equipment. So I could be unlucky that an automatic update was happening at the same time. It should never happen.

How can you live with the risk? :ROFLMAO:

Firmware updates occur between 2AM and 5AM local time, so make sure your auto-off respects the time boundaries. I guess that yours will update either when you turn the gear on or never ;)

It does actually update after asking me, when I open the WHA.

Don't mix up two different topics.

If you don't like this behaviour, that's absolutely legit. But please don't question the experience of many other users (including my own) just because you didn't observe it before.

This is not a first, it definitely did happen before. And this is a thread for everyone to discuss the WiiM Amp firmware 5.0.714744.

The recent (last few days) updates for my Amp and Amp Pro, the Home app did indeed ask me, and didn't update until I said yes.

Perhaps the update happens automatically depending on how long it is between when the device/app notices the update is available, and when you next run the app. If that's more than a certain time, then the update happens automatically, perhaps? But if you start the app regularly, then you always see the prompt, perhaps.

This is a forum for questions and answers. If I have an issue that I never experienced I will ask questions. Never once did I questioned or disagreed with anyone’s experience.

My Amp is on always, even in standby. Wiim Amp firmware 5.0.714744 just magically showed up installed and ready to go. The WHA always asks to me install firmware updates. Never prompted never asked in this instance. That’s a FIRST in MY experience. I’m sure if I had 5 different WiiM devices I would have a similar experiences as others, I don’t. I have only one WiiM device. Not sure what topics I’m mixing up?

I apologise if you feel I was argumentative, that was certainly not my intent.
No worries šŸ˜‰ I only have 1 WiiM device so my experience with this behavior is limited. If other devices get updated automatically without consent I wouldn’t know. My WHA usually prompts me to install. When that didn’t happen this time it was confusing.

It's alright then, nothing to argue about. You are not only free, but definitely invited to share your personal experience. As you said, that's what a forum is for.

If we mention that the same has happened before with all kinds of WiiM devices it's certainly not meant to doubt it never happened to you with the WiiM Amp before. That would be outright dumb and of no help to anyone. :)
