5.2.634662 (In Progress)

Release date:
11 / 5 / 2024

What's New:
  1. Roon Ready: Official Roon Ready certification for enhanced audio streaming. Tip: Restart the Roon app if WiiM Amp Pro doesn’t display as "Roon Ready."

  3. USB Disk Ejection: Added manual USB ejection (coming in next app update).
  4. Bluetooth Sound Control: Disabled connection notifications when not in Bluetooth input mode.
  5. Volume Indicator Update: Volume indicator stays active for 10 seconds after adjustments, then dims.
  6. Playback Fixes: Improved metadata, fixed skipping issues, added WMA lossless support, and reduced Preset latency.
Bug Fixes:
  1. Offline Responsiveness: Improved response without internet.
  2. General Enhancements: Various performance boosts and bug fixes.

Volume Indicator Update: Volume indicator stays active for 10 seconds after adjustments, then dims.

That's strange... my amp pro has always had the volume lights stay on for 10 secs when adjusted.
It was probably the first ticket I raised, 'cos imo it's far, far too long.
Unless this is saying it's to alter that behaviour?
Guess I'll find out.

Definitely not for me. Volume lights have been on permanently prior to this firmware release.

Is that on the Amp or Amp Pro? On my Amp the volume LEDs are off unless I change the volume or close to the end of a track. This is with the Volume Indicator setting disabled in the app.

For me, amp pro.
Not at home right now, and I can't remember the app setting.
I found the volume lights to be far too bright, and chose something in the app to turn them off.
However, any volume adjustment turned them on for 10 secs, then off again.
Mine don't come on near the end of a track. Fade in / out enabled?

Maybe they come on at the end of a track because I am playing from LMS. They definitely come on for 10 seconds when the volume is adjusted.

I would have loved this being an option, not the default behaviour. :(
Same here. Is there a way to keep the volume lights on all the time like before the update? I live in a condo with neighbors above me so the lights are a good ‘indicator’ of how loud not to go to disturb them. After the update I’m constantly toggling the volume to see where the lights are.

Got the new update and yes, there's seemingly no way to keep the lights on now.
What a strange implementation decision, and why have a Volume Indicator toggle that now just turns the lights on for 10 secs? :ROFLMAO:

It's funny though that we can tell quite well how loud it is just from listening yet we want that visual comfirmation of a number or some lights!

Some reasons popping to mind instantly:
  • Music isn't playing all the time. When the Album/playlist is done and I'm busy around the house I don't have to actively remember the last volume setting.
  • Different sources have different levels. Even with adjustable pre-gain e.g. different network sources can still have different levels. Before hitting the next preset button on the remote I'd like to have an idea of the current volume setting. The "volume indicator" doesn't really indicate volume but "requested gain".
  • I cut my devices from the power when they are not in use. When reconnecting the power the Amp Pro doesn't show the indicator right away, but only after it's booted (and then for a couple of seconds). I have to wait and watch closely to not miss this spot, if I'm interested.
Yes, I could grab the remote and press volume down to be on the safe side. The new behaviour has shown very clearly that the remote needs a couple of button presses before it gets recognised, though.

This is all fundamentally different from a TV (some made comparisons to in the past).

To me, having a "volume indicator" on an amp is no more absurd than having numbered hob setting knobs. You'll notice when the water boils or your hand starts to smell tasty, so why numbers? ;)

Hi Team,

We’ll be offering options to accommodate everyone’s preferences. By default, the volume LED will only illuminate when adjustments are made. However, we’ll also provide two additional settings: the option to keep the LED always on or always off, based on your preference.

I still don't see option for Auto Timing Alignment. Firmware version is 5.2.634944, app version is 3.0.1.241115.71fe38. Phone is Huawei P30. Do I have to do something to enable it? I see only manual syncing.

I am also putting a vote for LEDs always on, the LEDS aren't that problematic from across a room, but it's nice to see at a glance the device's configuration
