WiiM Ultra Firmware v5.2.634663 - Nov 5, 2024

Good point, but still a bit of a tease to announce a feature in a firmware update that won't be useable until they get around to doing something they haven't done yet.... As noted, just a minor annoyance.
So when is it appropriate? The next update?

If the feature has already been added but is not listed, that would be an inaccurate record of the update.🤔

Seems simple to me -- announce it when it will actually work.

But, its a big world and room for lots of opinions. As noted in my original comment on this subject, its a pretty minor issue, so I see no need to continue the debate. We've both given our opinions.

I like the fact that they are just transparent about it. This feature is a part of this firmware update. So it's announced with the firmware changelog. Although the app update seems to be taking a while now.

Got the update last night here in Sweden.

I am probably imagining things, but the sound quality seems much worse.

Also still no updated clock faces yet ;) not that I care.

I still don't have it. Current version 5.2.633437
Did you ever file a ticket for any issues recently? Chromecast issue perhaps? If your current version was pushed out to you by WiiM as a "fix" to something, you may need to contact support again and ask for the most recent. But I can tell you from personal experience, stick with 633437 if you use Chromecast.

Yes I did. Chromecast issue - exactly.

Ticket created. Thanks

DLNA not working properly after recent update. Media in the USB Disk that connected to WiiM ultra disappeared from Home Music Share. The CD also can’t play over the DLNA network now.

Right. I asked WiiM about this as I also have 633437. This FW brought back pre-Google Cast code.

So is the general release firmware still using the 16/48 limited Castlite 2.0? I thought a recent release fixed that, but then again I’m on the smart preset beta

I do not know. I thought I had the GA version and was told the one I have is whitelisted one and I didn’t even had asked to be whitelisted. :)

I received info that If I had issues and I want to update firmware to the newest one, I may have the same issues again. Wiim Support asked me to wait if possible. There should be an updated version of Chromecast in a month.

For visibility - what is the problem with Chromcest (at least for me)
@Paola described the issue in a perfect way: "It is like if you slightly touched a playing vinyl record - it slows down and the pitch changes slightly suddenly."

Yes, USB Disk has disappeared from Home Music Share under browse in the app, however USB is available and playable in Source Input. Also USB Disk as a DLNA library is still available in my BubbleUPnP android app. So as you say DLNA not working as it did.

WiiM already explained that this was a deliberate decision and - more importantly - that they will revert to the previous behaviour. :)

It’s werd, playing source from USB disk, then automatically change to WiFi. Actually impact to me is, I can‘t play CD over the WiFi after recent firmware update.
