WiiM Amp Ultra Firmware v5.2.734250 Update - Nov 1, 2025

Please review the WiiM Amp Ultra update release notes below. If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out to us. This firmware update is being rolled out in stages, with devices updating sequentially over the next few days.

5.2.734250 (In Progress)

Release date:

11 / 1 / 2025

Highlights: Real-time input status, smarter DNS for reliability, customizable DAC filter, and smoother streaming across services.

What's New:
  1. Input status at a glance: The app now shows when Line In and HDMI ARC are physically connected.
  2. Smart DNS reliability: Validates the DNS server provided by your router for more dependable service access.
  3. DAC filter selection: Choose your preferred DAC filter type to tailor the sound.
  4. Alarms: Custom labels and up to 32 alarms.
  5. Logitech Media Server (LMS): Disabled by default; enable in Device Settings in the WiiM Home app.
  6. USB Media Library: Create, delete, and manage playlists (add/remove tracks) on USB storage.
  7. TuneIn: Faster start when playing Apple Music stations.
Bug Fixes:
  1. Playback: Corrected playback state display in certain cases.
  2. TuneIn: Now consistently selects the highest available stream quality.
  3. Sub Output: Fixed missing bass when the wireless WiiM Sub Pro was disconnected.
  4. Qobuz Connect: Resolved a blocking issue that prevented playback.
  5. Spotify: Fixed failures to play from the Spotify app’s Recommended lists and Recently Played; also fixed presets that would not start playback.
  6. Alarms: Corrected behavior in Daylight Saving Time zones.
  7. Multi-room: After ungrouping, metadata no longer syncs to previously grouped (child) speakers.
  8. Gapless Player: Fixed a near track end race condition that could trigger overlapping/simultaneous playback.
  9. Local Files: Fixed an issue where the app progress bar reached the end before playback finished.
  10. Amazon Music: Smoother seeking and playback—fixed occasional skips after seeking, progress bar desync, repeated playback of the same track after seeking, and unexpected stops when using Amazon Music Cast.

I don't follow your logic, the"most comprehensive streaming software is Sonos", yet "their interface apps are rubbish".?
Seems a bit of contradiction of terms there?
As you say "your opinion only".
Here's the streaming services for Sonos:

The app interface is another matter - I personally dislike its design & ergonomics.

A lot of Radio stations are in that list. I can listen to Schlager Radio 🙂

I think the Sonos approach was to devise a plug'n'play system (which Wiim have copied to a certain degree).

I believe anybody is able to develop a Sonos service which once approved by Sonos will be made available as a service.

It's hard to deny that Sonos is the most comprehensive system (which was the original claim made for Wiim).

@WiiM Team, @WiiM Support,

I have received this firmware update.

Upon checking the DAC filter, I note the default setting is Minimum Phase. Was this the filter applied prior to the update?

I believe the default for Ultra and Vibe was Linear Phase Fast Roll-Off Filter. (As I have no interest in filters, I wish to make no changes..)

Regards.

How do you disable Google Cast? Even if I disable "Allow Google Cast" it is still.enabled for my device.

Yes, once Google Cast has been enabled it might be difficult to get rid of it again, indeed.

Removing the WiiM device from the Google Home app might or might not help. Worst case, a factory reset is required. I still prefer the fact that it is disabled by default when setting up a new device, even though I do use Google Cast from time to time.

Your opinion only.
Obviously not the opinion of @HansD-NL, only, since others (including myself) placed a like for the entire statement. But even if it was just his opinion, like in ...
... we are talking about in my opinion the most comprehensive implementation of streaming software ...
... it's still that: his opinion. I'm very sure you are smart enough to accept other opinions, even if you don't share them. In fact, @HansD-NL did not even mention Sonos at all. There's been no attack. No reason to defend anything, right?

These firmware and app version announcement threads have developed into a place for totally unnecessary fights and personal sensitivities lately (for no good reason).

Let's face it, not every update will ever contain something for everybody. If you have your personal pet peeve with the WiiM software or hardware, well, fair enough, but there's no point in repeatedly crying out the same old lament. These threads are mostly a quick source of information for the community about what has changed prior to updating road maps and official documentation. Starting endless debates about side aspects does not help anybody.

Let's please try to stay on topic in firmware and app update threads.

If these threads continue to be misused for self-promotion and off-topic discussions, I will propose an alternative approach to WiiM.

I simply replied to the assertion that Wiim was the most comprehensive streaming system. No need to use expletives to express your annoyance.
You called it a claim and just now an assertion but all it was was just an opinion. And I meant the whole eco-system including the WiiM Home app. But I agree that the comment from Eddie is way to strong. We all know what TF means and I don't understand that a Moderator/Community Curator calls a comment like this "Well said". 🤷‍♂️

The language I used was out of frustration for exactly this reason. I’m tired of these otherwise informative threads devolving into a free-for-all of everybody’s personal gripes, whines and unrelated opinions. If my choice of language offends you, then you know how I feel when these threads go off the rails. If I want to read about Sonos, I’ll look for a thread about Sonos. In this thread, I want to know what’s in the latest firmware update, and if anyone is having any issues with what is in this update in case there’s something I should keep an eye out for in my own setup. And that’s the last I’ll say about that.

You make a very valid point, how achievable it will be is probably another matter.
All the forums I've ever used have a tendency to deviate from the subject in one way or another.

Blablabla, you are tired, we must know how you feel about something, you want to know...What is so difficult about just saying "I should have communicated that differently". Own up man, be an adult. Controlling your impulses comes with the package.

So they mean Squeezelite then. They must know the difference. Unbelievably sloppy 🤷‍♂️. In that case it hardly seems worth mentioning under "What's new".
Hi slartibartfast and team,

We ship Squeezelite disabled by default for two reasons:
  1. Low demand: only a small subset of users rely on it.
  2. Network stability: Squeezelite’s service discovery/announcements can, on some “smart” routers with many devices, trigger rate-limiting or blocking—impacting users who don’t need it.
If you use LMS, you can enable Squeezelite in the device settings (toggle on when needed). If you run into router issues, limit it to the devices that need LMS or adjust your router’s multicast/IGMP settings.

Thanks for your patience and support!

This I think is understood. The complaints was about the wrong text in the release notes:

"Logitech Media Server (LMS): Disabled by default; enable in Device Settings in the WiiM Home app."

It's not the server and if it was it is not called Logitech any more. Even LMS is not correct, as it's not unique.

A rose by any other name.... It's now Lyrion Music Server (LMS). The 'official' nomenclature is still incorrect (IMHO) since the server delivers more than just music (eg podcasts, talk radio, audiobooks). 🎶📻🔊

Whatever the name is it definitely isn't Squeezelite. The release notes suggest the server software is included 🤣

Hello, I just received the update for the Wiim Amp Ultra and am now looking for the new tool, the DAC Filter Selection. Please, under which heading can I find this?
