Wiim Class A/B Power AMP

Hi,
The Wiim Ultra have wonderfull features. The Winamp has already a media player built in.
It would be nice to have now a Wiim Power Amp in Class A/B to pair with the Ultra with of course the same size, so the Ultra can be used as a player and preamplifier and the amp as power amp with better sound than those Class D amplifier.
Just my 2 cents.

Have you ever listen to a Purify/Eigentakt or Ncore NC5x ? If not, give it a try.....it will for sure change your pov.

That‘s what I recommended one post before. My NAD C399 is also great. Modern class D is the future.

Class D is fine for me, but i would very much like a matching power amp only to go with my ultra...

My Linn MDSM/4 is a Class D amp with extremely good sound. Not all Class D implementations need to be improved on by a Class A/B alternative…

Your Linn uses tpa 3255 , same class D chip as the WiiM amp .

More in the line of what I would want from a Winamp upgrade, and a one box solution that would last a bit. The streamer bit is of course not as comprehensive as that of the Ultra, but the implementation of the Hypex power mudules gets my ticker going a bit more ...

My current system is the Ultra, fed throught the whole SMSL PO100 debackle, into a Topping DX7 Pro ... sigh ... and finally an XTZ A2-300 Icepower poweramp. When writing this, an all in one box sound sweeter by the minute

There's a lot of overlap with existing WiiM products because this has a built-in DAC and volume control.

Especially for the WiiM Ultra, a pure poweramp would be enough - Audiophonics has a few offerings from their in-house brand. Especially the Hypex Ncore based amps are great for the money, like this:

My XTZ icepower amp is doing a pretty good job of it, but there is a thing called chronic upgrade-itis Don't know if the Hypex Ncore would amount to a big enough upgrade to warrant spending on a slightly strained budget. And according to some you can hardly hear ANY difference betweeb even the cheaper TPA3255 amps and the more expensive brands at decent listening volume (although I refuse to believe that ... undocumented of course ).

It takes dac's out of the equation and has gotten rather good reviews.
