If you update in Network Stream and then overwrite the saved Preset it updates.and includes your saved image - if that helps...

Clearly only beneficial if the Preset is a Network Stream, most of mine are.
It's still an action called "Saved" 😁

In general the WiiM Home App is not consistent in the use of action names. Using for example "Save" and "Done", or "See all" and "More" for the same actions.

What I need is to be able to add a picture to a Preset that is not created from a source but manually edited. A generic picture save option would be nice.

It appears that the hotspot connection using only one Android phone was successful: a WiiM amp was connected to the hotspot on my Poco F7 pro and music playback was possible on the WHA of the F7 pro 😄

Edit:
Not sure if it works with the phone's Wi-Fi switched off. I will check later.

Not sure what you mean - when I setup a hotspot to use in my car, for example, I always switch off WiFi otherwise the car tries to connect to my home WiFi which has limited range, well for car use 🤣
The hotspot turns the WiFi on again but for use as a router, not as a client.

It was successful.
However, Wi-Fi is necessary after all, as the access point can't be changed to a hotspot in the setup unless the phone is connected to Wi-Fi.

Summary.

  1. With the phone connected to Wi-Fi, turn on the hotspot and put the WiiM device into set-up mode.
  2. Connect the WiiM to the hotspot.
  3. Turn off Wi-Fi on the phone.
  4. Open WHA.
  5. Play music.

When I open the WHA, only the device connected to the hotspot will be online, all other devices will be offline.

If you don't have a home network, this method will not work and you will first need to set up the WiiM by connecting to Wi-Fi somewhere. However, once set up, WiiM will work with only one phone and one SIM.

This feature could also be used for diagnostic purposes if there is a problem with the WiiM working on the home network.

@WiiM Support, @WiiM Team, @RyanWithWiiM,
Is there a detailed explanation of this feature?
Thank you.

Surely the main use for the hotspot is when you don't have WiFi so it seems a bit pointless.

In my town, Xfinity goes down frequently; their service is crap. When I had them, I frequently relied on my cell phone's hotspot for internet. I'm on FIOS nowadays which is just as reliable as my electrical service, so not important, but I get it.

6. Import Artwork: Enable importing custom artwork in Open Network Stream.

The Import Artwork works well into Open Network Stream (iOS app). Thanks!

However, when setting a Preset from an Open Network Stream entry (containing an image) it does not add the artwork to the Preset… I hope @WiiM Team @WiiM Support take a look at this.

In my experience with the Android app the imported artwork does show on the preset used for an open network stream.

Good. It may only be an iOS problem. Feedback sent.

So before buying a WiiM Mini for my car, I tried connecting the WiiM Pro via Hot Spot on my Android phone and here are my findings. WHA, Tidal Connect and streaming music stored on my phone via UPnP in the USB Audio Player Pro work without any problems, but the Chromecast Audio and Qobuz Connect modes do not work at all, or rather the streamer is not visible on those applications.
