This is something so basic I imagine it's already been requested many times, but would it be possible to add permanently available playback controls in the notification menu and lock screen on Android? Every other streaming and music app has them, and it's frustrating having to open the app every time you want to stop or start playback.

It works for me....I have a OnePlus/Android 15 but I have low expectations, so that could be the problem :)

Playing The Dave Brubeck Quartet Time Out album from Plex Server to WiiM Amp using the WiiM app Plex integration for volume control from OnePlus. Volume up and down steps are coarse steps, but that's OK for my use. I have cvdlinden's wiim-now-playing app running in a browser on the side monitor which shows volume levels
Can you adjust the volume from 0 to 100 using the phone volume controls with the app in the background?

I see 3 issues with the WHA volume control.

The volume used in the WHA is not set as the phone volume when the WHA is put into background.

The volume control is relative instead of absolute.

The WHA don't respect focus change when another App in foreground uses the phone volume.

Agreed

You mean like from the lock screen? I've got an upper limit on the Amp output after 'the incident' :ROFLMAO: , so it won't go to 100. It does what I need it to do.
If you have another music app open as well as the WiiM Home app and adjust the volume of that with the phone volume controls does the WiiM volume also change?

Listening to two music sources at the same time -- that's like eating two soups:geek:, who does this? Proper reaching for edge cases, innit. :)

Not really. You might have the phone in a different room but have left the Home app running in the background. WiiM specifically say that the Android volume controls should only control one app at a time.

And you don't even have to listen to music on the WiiM. If the WHA is in the background it will adjust the WiiM volume also if the WiiM is in standby.

So e.g. watching YouTube and adjusting the volume of that will leave you with a surprise when you resume listening on the WiiM.
