I have had a Wiim Pro for almost 2 years and it always plays 16-bit/44.1kHz.
Is the output configured correctly? Yes. Audio settings are set to 24-bit/192kHz.
Did I test the audio settings? Yes, when I test, I see my outboard DAC display 48kHz/4X.
WiFi Streaming is set to Max.

So, I know my WiiM and DAC are capable of 24-bit, however, when I play a song from Tidal that says it is playing Max, but WiiM Home app always says 256 kbps 16-bit/44.1kHz. And my DAC always displays 16-bit as well.

I need help figuring out why this is happening.

That's already some progress 😉

But you do know that if you want to use Tidal Connect, you have to click on the Cast icon in the Tidal app and then select your WiiM target device, right (Screenshot from Tablet)?

After choosen, it' lookls like this:

...as Wiimer suggests, after you have connected to your WiiM-Pro in the Tidal app via Connect, you can open the WHA in parallel and check whether the same bit rate/frequency is displayed here. The information should be absolutely identical in both apps.

There’s some confusion in what I am telling you. I do use Tidal Connect and select Wiim Pro as the target device. I have been doing this for over 18 months.

I sent you an image of what WHA shows for resolution. The nitrate is getting downgraded to 16-bit m/44.1kHz.

Here is the image again

There was less confusion if you wouldn't crop your pictures so much that it's a guessing game which app might be shown. :)

Have you set the following settings to MAX in the Tidal app?

FYI: Even more confusing is that your Tidal screenshot shows MAX. If there was a Connect connection, the frequency/bit rate would be listed here in detail (see my screenshot)...

Here is a screenshot displaying that Tidal Connect is connected to Wiim Pro. And it says MAX.
Let me tap on MAX and see what happens. Son of a gun, it gives the bitrate! Who knew.

Now, here is WHA. As you can see, it downgraded the bitrate.

I now suggest that once you have made all the settings in the Tidal app, you close all wireless connections on your phone - except for WLAN/WiFi (Bluetooth off, Airplay off, etc., only WiFi on). Then open the Tidal app again and stream via Connect. Open WHA and check.

I'm not an Apple user, but I can assumee that you're using airplay 😉. Could anyone confirm please. Please see my suggestion before. Deactivate Airplay and using WiFi on your phone for streaming via Connect

I rebooted my phone, turned off cellular, turned off Bluetooth.

Tidal Connect shows 24-bit/96kHz
WHA shows 16-bit/44.1kHz

Yes, because the streaming is done via Airplay and not using WiFi. That's the crux of the matter....
Airplay 1 is 16/44 lossless (720-1000 Kbps), while Airplay 2 is 16/44 lossy (256 Kbps).
Deactivate streaming via Airplay and it will work.

Good night and merry christmas 😉

900kbps looks like Airplay. As requested, please post the Tidal app speaker full screenshot - it looks like you’re choosing the Pro from the airplay list rather than the entry for the Pro which has “Tidal Connect” beside it.

For example, when I press the speaker icon on the Tidal app now playing page on my iPad, this is what I see - I choose the entry for my pro that says “tidal connect” beside it, NOT the Pro entry that would appear if I extend the airplay list.

...If you have established the connection via Connect, you could even turn off your phone completely and the Pro would still play music (as a test). Your WiFi connection only controls what should be played, like a remote control.
When connected via Airplay, the data/your music is transferred from your phone to the Pro.

If we had seen the full screenshot including the AirPlay icon we'd been faster in solving this (not so) mysterious issue. ;) Just saying. Merry Christmas and enjoy your Hi-Res capable WiiM Pro.
