Wiim Sound Lite to replace Dali Oberon 5's

I haven't actually tried two Sounds linked to an ultra (or similar) as a stereo pair for TV listening.
Maybe I'll try it this weekend.

Two Sounds as a stereo pair for music doesn't do it for me for a couple of reasons that I'll elaborate on elsewhere.

Could I not use any sub, as I would be keeping my Wiim Ultra in the setup?
You would actually have to keep it in the system if you want to integrate your TV sound via HDMI ARC.
In this case you can also use another subwoofer than the WiiM Sub Pro.

Yes, I remember I tried that and it played back normally.🙂
(Connect Ultra's right line out to the right WS using the included cable (RCA to AUX), and connect the left line out to the left WS.)

I agree

I think the intention is rather to link them by wifi. The OP hasn't explicitely mentioned it but that's how I would want to do it.

Sure, I was just checking if it was possible.🙂

I don't see any advantage to using a wired connection.
But if someone wants to set up five WS units for a theater room and achieve wireless surround 5.1, there is the benefit of being able to unify the sound color across all speakers.
(However, this assumes that the wireless surround system functions perfectly without any issues.)

The advantage would be not to have so many cables.
Also you would have to run rather lengthy connections, which is not ideal with single ended RCA. I'm usually not super concerned about such aspects, but in this case I'd be hesitant.

Needless to say, if you want to stick with wired connections, there are plenty of active speaker options available.🙂

Certainly don't buy American subwoofers :ROFLMAO:

I can't recall any specific subwoofer only danish brands, most speaker brands that produce subwoofers are expensive for what you get

In the UK there's BK

Ok. Noted. The Wiim sub is not good, I take it. I guess I just figured that it being from the same brand as the speakers would benefit the cohesiveness of the system. In reality I am not really looking for a sub. I have my Argon S850 wired up to my Wiim Ultra now, and that suits me fine. Argon and Dali are both Danish companies, by the way.

If the Wiim sub has built in PEQ that'll help but some other brands do have that feature as well. Not sure if this model has it but the more expensive models do

One or two of those in a music system would be plenty

The WiiM Sub Pro is very good, take it from someone who actually owns one.

Not great news I'm afraid.

Just set this up, all devices on wifi. The amp is not connected to speakers, so is acting like an Ultra.

Yes, 100% volume. I'm in a 13m2 room and it's still far, far too quiet with the gain at the default of 0.
Increasing that on each Sound to +10db fixes it somewhat, but it's hardly cinematic.
"The Beekeeper" (Jason Statham!) is humming, not buzzing angrily.

I have the group audio delay set to 70ms to make the lip sync acceptable.
Except the sound simply isn't in sync. I can clearly hear the audio drop out on one speaker or another very often, and just as often there's an echo as one speaker "says" a word then the other one says it afterwards. And I do mean afterwards. The entire word is heard on one speaker before it starts on the other.

Sorry, but I can't recommend you steer clear from this setup enough.
I have no such issues with playing music to the amp and grouped Sounds.
The volume is much, much louder and the music stays in sync. I'm attributing this to the 800ms group delay for the amp's wifi input, which cannot be altered.
